Tennessee vs Florida game thread

We were much improved this week. Even though we ended up with a loss the boys def. did not quit. IMO that was a major step forward.

Proud of the guys. They made improvement from last week. We've played two top 10 teams in a row, hopefully things will get brighter from here. GBO!

Im not saying old Phil...im talking 90 to late 90s phil

This is the kind of revisionist history that drives me crazy. I will always respect Coach Fulmer for what he did and his passion for all things Tennessee, but he had his success during a period where everyone else in the SEC except Florida was down. Once LSU, Georgia, and Alabama started to find success in recruiting, the writing was on the wall.

Oh and the d-bags that keep calling for Bray to start make me chuckle... what little sports knowledge! Get a grip. The bottom line is that Coach Dooley will get three years to right the ship. I think he can do it. I'm not sure if he actually will, but I've got the intelligence and patience to see it out. Go Vols!

Umm Alabama always has a team..from 90s until now they usually finish between 1-25th. Georgia was great under Jim Donnan. LSU was really the only one biting the dust man...know your history for now its kinda nice to grasp that in your hands being a Big Orange Fan.

:lolabove: OK... sure thing, Ace. Bama was really dominating the SEC during the 90s. Jim Donnan really stacked up nicely in the East...

Donnan's inability to return the UGA program to the national prominence of Vince Dooley's era and to compete with longtime SEC Eastern Division rivals such as Tennessee and Florida, combined with certain off-the-field problems for players, are believed to be the reasons for his dismissal after the 2000 season.

Didnt say they were Dominating...They still had teams and got alot of W's..They were still SEC and let me tell you now MR.PhD in sports Phil had a big hand in making the recruitments..Even if everyone else picked up on it.

He made good decisions and knew the game thats what got our w's not because of other teams coaches not having the ability recruit or because they had what you call bad teams which is an outrageous accusation clearly.. just look it up

Aside from quoting yourself (which I got a chuckle out of actually)... why don't you look it up and get back to me. Georgia never one a conference title during that period, let alone the SEC East.

This isn't about me bashing Fulmer. I'll always respect him for what he did. But I am realistic and know how hard it is to win big at Tennessee with such little in state talent when the other traditional SEC powers are firing on all cylinders in terms of their recruiting. There's a reason there was a 47 year gap between our two most recent national titles. Nevertheless, I'm all Vol for life.

I was at the game, but after only getting 2 looks at the TD to Hunter, I have to ask. What was the breakdown in the secondary that led to him being so wide open that all of the Village People took notice?

It looked like Florida was playing a Cover 2. Hunter broke on a Go route and the inside receiver ran a Post. The corner sat down waiting on anything underneath. He was anticipating help from the Safety. The Safety's responsibility is deep coverage and they each have one half on the field(from the Hash over). The soft spot in the Cover 2 is the Middle of the Field if you flood it vertically(10-15 yards or more). The Safety took the post, covering the middle of the field, leaving Hunter all alone.

Makes sense. I was curious, cause it appeared that he had a 20 yard radius with no defender in sight
