Why would a recruit come to UT to play Appy State. That is a lot of what has been wrong with our program for the last decade. With the exception of OU we have neutered our out of conference schedule

Since 2001 we have played home and Home's with Notre Dame who was #8 one of those yrs, Miami,Fl who was #2 and #6 at kickoff, , Cal who was #9 and #12 at kickoff, UCLA wasn't ranked either yr, Oregon was #2 and #7 at kickoff and Oklahoma who was #4 and #19 at kickoff. . Plus 3 neutral site kickoff games vs Va Tech, who played in the ACC Championship game that yr ,Nc St, Ga Tech and W.Va this yr. Yr in and out we have one tough Non Conference game. I prefer the home and Home's but those aren't available every yr. Doubt any other school has played even close to that type of Non Conference Schedule the last 17 yrs.

How do you know? 2024 is far away. Dabo will be in Alabama and we should breaking in a new coach that year as well.

Let's hope not to the us breaking in a new coach part. Dabo in Ala is highly probable though.

Unless we are breaking in a new coach because Pruitt just won his 3rd national championship, and wants to try the NFL.

Clemson has money.

Dabo strikes me much more as a family man. I think he stays at Clemson. Following a legend is never a good idea and he is smart enough to know that.

He is a family man and exactly why he would take the Ala job. Ala is home for him and his wife. It's where they were born and raised, where they met and where family is.

There are exceptions to that and Ala is the exception for him. That man and his wife have strong ties and deep roots to the state and university. It would be line Fulmer being at Clemson and Tennessee comes calling. Fulmer wouldn't have turned down TN, no matter who he was following.

I can't see Pruitt going to the NFL but I could be wrong. He loves recruiting and coaching college age kids. He doesn't put up with the BS and not sure he has any desire to deal with spoiled, primadonna millionaire's. But the winning a 3rd NC sounds great though.

He is smart enough to know he wont produce like Saban.

On the one hand, who knows where each program will be in 2024. On the other, why would we schedule a team that has been so dominant coming off our worst season ever?

No matter when the game happens, the chances of it going badly are much better than it going well. How about we see how the new coaching staff does before we schedule a team that is perennially in the playoff?

Those games are set far in advance. I have no problem with them scheduling it, just wouldnt want to play them in the next two year (which it obviously want be.)

Like I said, who knows where both Clemson and Tennessee will be in 2024. But, talking about scheduling them the off season after the worst season in Vol history seems foolhardy at best, and delusional at worst. Given the strength of the SEC it just seems unnecessary. Luckily, our rotating opponent from the west is Mississippi State that year (I Think), but still.

I say go ahead and schedule them. It is far enough down the road either team could be totally different by then,no need to shy away. It could be a good regional matchup.

For a guy who has the same head coaching experience as my grandmother, our fans sure are putting a lot of blind faith in Pruitt.
