Tennessee beats auburn.....dont judge a book by its cover our boys will be ready. Every midmajor wants to knock off a big dog and give ohio credit for hanging in there. Tennessee will be ready to fight believe me.

tennesse = No offense, big defense
auburn - no defense, big offense

auburn looks damn good so far this year, and they have played west virginia and miss st, neither of which are terrible or anything

I was in Alabama for 9 days recently with work and I had the opportunity to go to the Auburn vs. WVU game while I was there. After watching Auburn play, turnovers are the only thing that could cause us to lose this game. But with Crompton running the show, that's a high liklihood. I still think we pull it out though.

By the looks of tonight, every game could be tough for the Vols to win. UT just has to hope that Hardesty runs wild every game and the Vols defense plays well. Tonight, the defense looked bad and the loss of Reveiz hurts.

its funny considering their wide reciever price is on the belitnikoff list, thats not mid major talent. we played a very physical game last week agaisnt florida, we were probably pretty tired still from that. ball state doesnt have a our running game and clock management built offense or our stingy defense. yeah we gave up 300 yds passing because vinson got burnt tonight a few times. rogan was out due to punishment for whatever reason. we beat auburn 23-17 witha rested defense. cody burns is AU's version of crmpton he has sucked since being there. they just havent played anyone worth talking about so he looks good. they havent had pressure on him like we will bring next week.

If Auburn puts up 30 points or more, we're done. I like our defense, but they're getting banged up and tired from all the time they're having to spend on the field. Auburn's D is kind of a mystery, hasn't really been put to the test. But I don't see us throwing the ball very much or successfully, not unusual. And how many stretch plays and counters can we really run and be successful? We're going to have to figure out a way to throw the ball. How about a screen or two? We finally threw a couple tonight with some positive results. I wasn't encouraged at all with our pass game tonight. Crompton completed 49% against Ohio University. Auburn's secondary has to be drooling for next weekend.

Lets just put it this way; I thought 2008 was going to be the only season I was going to have a stroke every time we lined up on offense.

Boy was I wrong.

ball states awful. mississippi state is mediocre. west virginia got cromptonitus after the 1st quarter of putting it on them 21-0. and la tech ran all over them

I think itll be a good one

If Ball State can score 27, Tennessee could drop 70

I dont like being negative, but Ball State most likely has a better QB then us. If we are going to win we have to run the ball very very good & our D will have to come up with some turnovers.

Half of the high school teams in Tennessee have a better QB than us.

It is what it is.

Go Vols.

Kodi Burns plays WR now. Chris Todd is their starter at QB this year and has looked pretty good. They also have a freshman RB/KR named Onterio McCalebb who looks really good. I saw their game against WVU and Mississippi State and I think we will be able to run the ball on them. I still think UCLA was a better team than anybody AU has faced thus far. I think we can win 28-24 if most everybody comes back healthy next week.

We may be toast if the team plays flat like they did vs. Bobcats.
Crompton and the receivers have got to play better. Defense needs to refocus. The Ohio passing attack showed some weakness in our D.

Since playing at Neyland isn't a real advantage anymore this is a toss up with the slight edge going to Auburn.

I meant Chriss Todd, I was trying to say say Todd gat bench last year and replaced by burns, I just failed to put any of that into my comment. Didnt realize it until you pointed that out. Either way, auburn hasnt been tested defensively this season and had to faced a ball state team that had to replace their QB that got drafted. We win big malzahn shows why Houston Nutt didnt trust him making offensive calls playing against the SEC.

UT always plays bad the week after UF....Don't put too much into the way they played against Ohio.

I'll just say.... i don't like our chances right now. Reveiz just left a huge hole in the middle of our defense and friday night lights Gus has to be drooling.

So what was the deal with our defense yesterday? Particularly our secondary. I thought our front played very good against the run, but the pass rush wasn't there at all. Vinson looked flat out bad, Jackson didn't look much better and was out of position a lot, Evans played better than last week but still not that good. Myles isn't ready yet. Johnson looked the best at CB at least last night. Berry didn't seem to be around the ball a lot but I'm sure OU probably schemed around him.

King/Mitchell-Thornton still have a ways to go with pass coverage/assignments. Reads were too slow. OU lined up guys in the slot all night long. They sent the split ends deep and and hit slot guy on quick seams and pop routes before the OLB could get over and the safety could come up. McCoy played it ok on his side, but we were exploited when we had Vinson or Evans against Price, and King assigned to the slot man all on that same side of the field. DE's need to at least get a hand up and bat some down.

Overall it was a really good gameplan from Solich against our defense. I think we underestimated their QB a lot, and that was one of the better WR cores we will face. Thompson is a smart LB and we missed him bigtime. We missed Rogan more than we think as well. He has become a very solid guy in the secondary imo. Reveiz is obviously a huge loss but I think we will be ok against AU after everybody else gets healthy, but it will be a close game.

Our kick coverage needs more work than any other area of our team. It is a HUGE problem and is easily costing us 10 points a game....which is on top of the other 10 points we are gaureenteed to give up every game because of Crompton mistakes. Big problem there.

Brent Vinson proved yesterday why he shouldn't be given any more playing time. He was awful and they picked on him relentlessly.

I think we win the game but it wont be b/c Chris Todd sucks. What happened last year is irrelevant, Todd had a bum shoulder that was repaire by Dr James Andrews.

Thus far he's leading the SEC in TD passes,YDS, and 2nd in passer rating. Malzahn put up 50 pts 600 yds against an always stout Miss St D, same D that held LSU to 234 yds yesterday.
