Tennessee vs. Auburn Game Thread

I couldn't believe that Lofton missed that free throw in the Ohio State game. I had spent the previous 3 minutes yelling at the TV "Just get the ball to Lofton!"

OSU, TX, VAndy...all games where free throws could've/did make a difference. i guess now you throw Auburn in to the mix...and it's just hard not to ignore. the TX game doesn't go in to overtime at all if we hit from the stripe at the end. we win OSU and Vandy and probably Auburn(didn't get to see the game, but from what i can tell from reading, we didn't exactly get to the line all that much either).

which brings up another point....and i wondered this against OSU...we really stayed away from the inside...we made no effort to even try and see if we could Oden in foul trouble....???

anyway..........who's next? SC.......ah.......go vols.

Here's another thing to think about. I've noticed towards the end of games (especially when we're losing) that Lofton decides to try and make something happen and he's pretty successful. Why not that attitude throughout the whole game?

Ramar is actually the 4th best FT% shooter on the team behind Howell (7-7), Lofton (80.7%), and JaJuan (75.4%).

yeah, in the games i've seen, he's been great at the end of both halves...it's like he flips a switch or something...

Exactly, he's pretty solid through the whole game, but if the Vols need baskets, he really works to get them and is really successful at it.

I have been thinking the same thing. Seems like when the game is down to the final 3 minutes or so, Lofton demands the ball and usually scores at will. I'll be watching the game (and this has happened on multiple occasions this year) Lofton normally will have 14-15 points with about 4-5 minutes to go, and by the time the game is over somehow he managed to pile up another 10-12 points and finishes with a game high 27,30,32 or whatever. I wish he would be more aggressive early in the game. I know he has become more aggressive this season but imagine if he kept up the same intensity the whole game. He would be averaging 30+ a game.

the OK. St game comes to mind as a perfect example...didn't CL light them up in the last few minutes of hte 1st half? i seem to remember him being awesome during that span...in fact i know he was....

he's gotten better....inside game has definitely improved, no doubt...but the whole key to our offense w/out a guy inside that can dominate, is movement w/out the ball, that is if we are in a half court set.

i'm no expert, but sometimes it seems we have two guys up top and not much else going on underneath...we really depend on defense to create turnovers so we can run...if we don't get that, our offense is just throwing it up and hoping for the best...

and no one has brought up rebounding.....another stat we are woefully deficient in.

This is kinda the point I was trying to make earlier. If we would (esp. Lofton) would drive to the rim early in the game or early in the second half then that would force the defense in toward the basket and open up the perimeter for our 3 point shots. Instead we come out at the beginning of every game jacking up 3's from 22 feet with a defender in our face.

It would probably help them get to the line too..
