'82-'85 were some fun football seasons. We beat those horrid people and it was exciting!
We didn't win every game but it was fun.

Awesome. I wasn't even 2 years old when that game was played, but I love it anyways. I also have to commend you on the song selection, I love the vols, and I love metallica so :rock::rock:

Every time I think about the ending of that game it makes me want to bang my head into a wall to see if I can induce amnesia.

I have it on my hard drive if you want me to add it????

You aren't kidding. I can't think of a worse game. Not even the game where Palmer ran it in for the tie (but that was brutal also).

But, things turned around after that.

I've posted it before . . . Right before Greg Burke's go ahead FG attempt I jokingly said out loud, "Unless they block this and it goes backwards 20 yards, the worst we're gonna do is tie." :banghead2:

Who's that #92 on the Vols' defense? He made some great plays. Was he ever any good???

lol.... NO

Ya, i figured as much.

One of the single games in the past 25 years that there is simply no explanation for losing.

Up to that point Bama lost to.. Southern Miss, Georgia, Florida. If i remember correctly they lost every starter at RB and Receiver and had a FB(Kevin Turner) rotating in at RB.

I've seen a few highlights over the years, but NOTHING like this where you get a sense of how the whole game went. Thanks so much!

I remember comming home from somewhere just as the game was ending and my dad cursing at Bama.

Great video and an even super memory...I was at the 82, 83 and 84 games...Missing the 85 game because of strep throat but watched it on TV...the 83 game was amazing live as there were so many big plays and you had to be there when Johnny Jones broke that long run near the end of the game...Only word i can think of is electrifying...Everyone in the crowd was shocked and the UT crowd was going bonkers...I couldn't talk for two days after that game...Thanks for posting it!

Hey does anybody notice anything strange about the UT offense back in those days besides being able to move the ball?..lol...How about the multiple formations, We even used SPLIT BACKS back in those days and of course the option play when it was needed...Say what you want about ole Johnny, He had a fun offense to watch at times...I had almost forgotten how good of a QB Alan Cockrell was back then.

It really is a shame that he is overlooked in Tennessee football lore.

post 1000.
