Here's some reasons why UT might win: 1) Brodie could get hurt forcing 3rd string Guillon to play 2) DJ Hall, our best receiver now, might not play because of bruised ribs 3) Riggs could turn it on and play like he did last year 4) UT's D might shut Darby down
Now some reasons why Bama might win 1) Brodie won't get hurt and instead will torch your mediocre secondary 2) DJ Hall will play because it's the UT game and we need him out there, and he will have a big day 3) Riggs could get stuffed all day because we're stacking the box just like every other team has done to yall 4) Darby might run for his average of 102 yards a game and keep the heat off of Brodie 5) Our team is better than your's 6) Nobody likes the color orange 7) Demeco Ryans is hungry and ready to feast on some QB's 8) Fulmer looks like a giant pumpkin on the sidelines 9) Your offense couldn't score on my grandmother's bridge club.

Mediocre secondary? Actually, our secondary has played very well this season. They are loaded with talent. And, this season they are doing something with this talent. This is why I think UTK can win (this is assuming UTK's special teams do not lose the game): Alabama will not be able to run against UTK's front 7, it just won't happen. So, Alabama will go to the air and find very little success against a good UTK secondary with an average WR core (without Prothro). UTK will have two good drives where the offense finally clicks. UTK will win 10-6.

Not saying it's "for sure," but the keys to a UT victory, IMO:
- Establishing the running game. Ole Miss was able to move the ball fairly well against the Tide, only to come away with nada points time and time again. UT's line has been called out, and it's time for them to earn the preseason respect they were given. Look for Riggs to carry a Big Orange Chip on his shoulder as he finally has a breakout game.
- Pressuring Brodie Croyle. He's apt to make a mistake with Mahelona and Haralson chasing him down, and he's neither quick enough to escape nor tough enough to take hits. That means a few forced throws or bad decisions that UT MUST, I say MUST, take advantage of.
- Improvement on special teams. With two weeks to prepare, we better see results. Period.
- The defense must replace J Allen. He was the "rock" in a previously suspect secondary. Replacing him will be tough. Thankfully, with Prothro out, the scales are levelled a bit.
- A week of rest and preparation. Alabama was stuck in a 4-quarter game that was supposed to be nothing more than a "scrimmage" last Saturday. We're rested, pissed, and now see that Bammer is vulnerable.
- Last but not least: TRADITION. (see results from the last two decades) The better team on paper does not always come out on top, and history has taught us that anything can happen on the third (or "fourth") Saturday in October. I'd say both sides would like to see a hard-fought, well-played, and injury-free game at this point.

I mostly agree with your outlook but the Vols seem to have a hard time gettin the motor hot after a bye week. They lose their edge or something, hope I'm wrong. One other point is the LB's...I d rather see them in the pass rush more if their in, instead of pass coverage. Id rather see 6 db's more often, but if the LB'S are gonna be in there I believe theyd be more productive pass rushing as they seem to have heavy feet especially on backs in the flat.

Coaching staff takes the two weeks and simplifies the offense a bit.... gets back to the basics. The huge offensive line motor grades over Bama as Riggs rushes for 160+ yards. The QBs and special teams don't make mistakes. Vols win the time of possession. The defense plays as good as it has all season. Final score: Tennessee 21, Alabama 7

Your secondary isn't loaded with talent. It was talented with Jason Allen, now he is gone so it is downgraded to mediocre. We might have trouble moving the ball on the ground, but then again, you might also. Riggs is flat out overrated and hasn't exactly wowed the world this year, Darby is consistent and will gain some yards but he won't have a great day. Now, Brodie is better than your two QB's AND our secondary is better than your's. Brodie will have an easier time finding receivers than will Clausen/Ainge. The only way that UT wins this game is if they can run the ball pretty well, Riggs will need well over 100 yards because you just won't be completing very many passes. If Riggs has a great day and your front 7 does shut our running attack down, then UT can win. However, I don't see it happening.

Good post 12. Ut secondary is talented, but they lack the bruising SS that will knock the snot out of you. I really miss that.
Bama has a better chance of establishing the run because UT will more than likely go three and out more than the Bama offense.
Do not underestimate a rested UT defense. I predict a lot of pressure on Croyle from the front four.
Contrary to popular belief the UT Oline has been a better than average pass blocking team. This may (I use that term loosely) be an opportunity for Ainge to step in and stretch the field, but GR must have at least 80 yds rushing for UT to have a chance.

I never underestimate UT. All that stuff about Brodie, and recievers and secondaries are fun to talk about. But IMO, it comes down to the line of scrimmage. If UT can control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, they win. Same with Bama.
If a team gets whipped on the line...its over. Trench warfare is the key.

we seem to play better when our backs are against the wall....
i think we have had time to heal a bit, ainge will play, and if we play our cards right by going after croyle,and plugging up the run ....offense must excute if we can do these and gel as a team we can whip the roll tide in their own back yarde.....just ask georgia about last year and lsu about this year

Nice post; very classy. Unfortunately, there will be no 83 yard field goal attempts, and the weight of the coaches are not factored into the score of the game.
Why don't you stick to the topic and leave personal attacks on body habitus to yourself? This isn't GQ or Maxim, so stabbing at a person's appearance or weight makes you look ignorant and insensitive.
Ainge is likely to rebound from his injury and emotional upheaval before long, and he will hurt the Tide (again, or have you forgotten?) before his career at UT is over.
Oh, one last thing: before you tank on Sanders anymore, why don't you check his record against the Crim$on Tide? I believe there is an above post with a friendly reminder.
Good luck on recovering from last week's scrimmage, and GO VOLS.
