Tennessee under NCAA investigation over use of recruiting hostesses

I never said they didn't...

I was asked "Have you seen any hostess with recruits while at a bama game".

But the NCAA banned all in 2004!

This is not an accurate statement

NCAA did not "ban" hosting groups, they just changed the rules of how they operate. Host/Hostess must be avalible to all not just athletes and the hosting group must be made up of both men and women. The UTN group does have both.

But Bama has us beat on the male hostesses. That's one where I'll concede their edge.

LSU is toast as long as they have Les.

Auburn and UT are coming for you, but your guy is the real deal... which sux.

Thanks...

I ain't to worried about LSU because of Miles.

Awwbarn I ain't to worried about either. I know the HS offense is cute and all but Gus Malzhan will leave after next year.

UT-Kiffin already proved that he can coach with the best of them, its just a matter of getting talent to work with. With that being said if he can turn 2 or 3 recruiting classes like this year then I expect Bama and UT to meet twice a year.

Doesn't matter what they find out, fact is just this being out there will hurt us, maybe a little, maybe alot. The NCAA will drag this on at least long enough that recruits will have time to consider the possible consequences. We do live in the land of guilty until proven innocent, in most cases. It sucks that all day long it has scrolled "Tennessee Football program under investigation by NCAA". They could run a story tomorow that says "NCAA immediately clears Tennessee Football program of any wrong", but damage has been done. I gotta give CLK a "C'mon Man!" after all of the trouble/allegations/remarks over the past year. I like the direction of our team, but without the high level recruits, we never have a high level team again, I don't care who the coach is. Im doing my best just to stay positive. A win over V-Tech would go along way for us.

Thanks for the info...

I thought after the Colorado state* accident in 2004 they were banned.

Do the recruiting services rate the hostesses like they do the players (5 stars, 4 stars, etc.)???

From an article somebody posted on the Brandon Willis thread:

Byrnes head coach Chris Miller said that upon learning the women were at the game called the players and told them "to get away from them," then called UT assistant coach David Reaves.

Gary Willis said his son will graduate from Byrnes this month and will enroll in a college in January. Commitments are not binding until the players sign a National Letter of Intent in February.

"These girls had nothing to do with the impact when my son decided he would go to school at Tennessee," Willis said in a telephone interview. "They told the guys at summer camp that they were going to come to one of the games."

He said Tennessee "had nothing to do with that. They didn't even know that these kids were coming to the game."

Willis said he spoke to an NCAA representative that visited Byrnes and interviewed his son.

"I let him know first and foremost that I did not appreciate him that I didn't appreciate him getting my son out of class without his dad being there," Gary Willis said. "We have nothing to hide. Brandon is not signed to go to Tennessee. He is verbally committed to go to Tennessee. He could still go anywhere he wanted to go."

Coach Miller said he was aware an NCAA representative visited the school and interviewed three players, but he did not know the purpose of the interviews.

He said his son has received more than 40 major college scholarship offers including schools in California, two of which he visited recently. "There were girls at every school we went," he said.

"These are kids you're messing with. These are kids that don't deserve that," Willis said. "My son has a 4.28 GPA. He ain't the type of kid that looks for handouts."

Willis said he told the NCAA, "I have nothing to hide with you."

Willis said his son didn't mention it until days later. Corey Miller's mother said today she wasn't aware her son had been interviewed by the NCAA.

As of now we have the 5th best recruiting class according to rivals. But I completely agree with you---the damage is done regardless if they find anything or not. Interviewing commits/possible commits about this stuff might cause us to lose a couple guys. Hopefully not, but who knows.

That's the way I see a lot of seasons over the next decade or so. Should be fun!

The NCAA goons are on patrol. Hide your kids.

A guy on the radio from the Byrnes HS area in SC just said that the Byrnes HS coach is the one who called the NCAA after Latt informed coach Bentley (Byrnes HS coach) that there were UT hostesses in a motel room with other Byrnes players (who were UT commits). Furthermore, the room and the alcohol involved was charged to Kiffen's credit card.

Just passing along what I heard on the local Knoxville radio.

Wow, that would be too good to be true.

:lolabove:

What drugs are you on dude to actually post that nonsense....it was charged to Kiffin's Credit card..

I have to say that I agree with the father on this one. I would have a problem if someone from the NCAA came to my sons school and starting asking him questions. If these kids are under 18 years old this may be a problem for the NCAA. Is it an invasion of privacy to question someone that is underage about a rpivate matter in his life.

I agree with this.

Young men won't like the prospect of being under the watchful eye of big brother. This will unfortunately cost UT some recruits. Dunno how many, but I think it's a chickenshiz way for the NCAA and the NYT to break the news as if it happened last week. Kiffin made someone angry, and now they're out for blood. My question is, when is the NCAA going to investigate the SEC officials for their horrendous officiating all year? Missing the calls they did WITH REPLAY?? Are you kidding?

What's that? Pass interference? :zeitung_lesen: I was checking my horoscope. :whistling:

It is not an invasion of privacy if the investigator asks and he provides information on his own. Now if hes got him in the Iron Maiden and then asks question, then there might be an issue. Mr. Willis may not like it and it may not be right, but it was not illegal.

Nobody in NY knows anything about college football much less the SEC. Don't give these "bottom feeding" butt bags any credence whatsoever!

I don't feel like running through this whole thread. But has any of our recruits, specifically Corey Miller or Brandon Willis said anything about this incident yet?
