Tennessee under NCAA investigation over use of recruiting hostesses

you missed what I was saying...it has been removed from the VN ...but is still available to download and print....not taking a shot at you bro:good!:

My bad. I guess my head is still spinning from all this mess and my reading comprehension is suffering.:eek:k:

I dont think it will amount to anything. This has been going on for a long time. And we are not the only University to do it, but we shall see.

Marcus Lattimore, a running back who made an unofficial visit to Tennessee but said he would not enroll there, said multiple Tennessee hostesses attended a game at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C., in September. He said they brought signs, including one that read, “Come to Tennessee.”

“I haven’t seen no other schools do that,” he said. “It’s crazy.”

This is exactly what I thought of when I heard the story

Exactly.... I'm not a "tin-foil hat" kinda guy but apparently CLK has ruffled enough feathers that there is an orchestrated attempt (on whose part remains to be seen) to cut Tennessee off at the knees where recruiting is concerned... I'll bee interested to see how Kiffin & co. deal with this and what Hammy will have to say later on today....

Well, I've more than enough people screw over other people in a professional working environment... so... this wouldn't surprise me at all. No conspiracy. Just the, I'm sure, dirty side of recruiting.

I've seen high ranking government folks give extremely high recommendations to a terrible employee just to get rid of them. The responsibility, and sphere of influence, that terrible employee is now in is frightening. There is no boundary to some people in regards to where they'll go to get what they want.

Seems something like this shows up just before signing day and it seems to me we are the target, guess if you can't pay coaches or give free books ther are other ways to win durty.

you cant say that no one else does it b/c one recruit has never seen it before. FAIL

Anyone else think the timing of this is fishy??

Talking to recruits who arn't even committed to us; investgating just in time to ruin our class?

If this ends up as a dead end for the NCAA, I would expect a very well deserved lawsuit care of some young ladies.

Given the fact that the NYT didn't name any hostesses, a lawsuit would be pretty difficult. Second, the NYT did not allege that the girls did anything illegal or immoral. So where's the lawsuit?

And if it does end up as a dead end with the NCAA, do you really want to see the NYT in court defending themselves, recruits, parents, and HS athletic directors testifying under oath, etc., etc.? I wouldn't

A guy on the radio from the Byrnes HS area in SC just said that the Byrnes HS coach is the one who called the NCAA after Latt informed coach Bentley (Byrnes HS coach) that there were UT hostesses in a motel room with other Byrnes players (who were UT commits). Furthermore, the room and the alcohol involved was charged to Kiffen's credit card.

Just passing along what I heard on the local Knoxville radio.

It looks like there are a lot of people getting waaaay too worked up about this. Then again, maybe it is a bigger deal than I realize. Every time a story breaks VN goes into meltdown.

Take a deep breathe people.

When facts start coming out that actually point to us possibly being in real trouble then I would worry. Until then I am assuming we will get a slap on the wrist if anything at all.

I think the only way we get into real trouble is if the university is funding these types of things and or to a lesser degree instructing the hostesses to do it (or if they uncover something else in the process).

Innocent until proven gulity in a court of law, not court of public opinion. Maybe UT should consider a slander lawsuit againt The New York Times.

I didn't say that no one else does it. All I'm doing is quoting Lattimore, and he said that he's never seen it. Given the fact that he is the #1 player in the state, the #7 player in the country, and already has 12 offers from major college programs...hardly just any recruit...I'd say he has a pretty good amount of experience with college recruiters to speak from...maybe even more than you. The original post implied that this is almost common practice. The FAIL is on you.

As of now I am not overly concerned with this. At this point it seems that we've got NCAA doing some routene stuff that makes great news with Kiffin's named involved.

It could get ugly, but being as that UT stll has no written notice of an investigation, I'd say calm down for now people.

volquest.com is not reporting this story. you know why? because it looks bad for the program. STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS!
