Tennessee under NCAA investigation over use of recruiting hostesses

A ton of red flags popping up for you guys over the last week. Coaches leaving, or rumored to be and several commits(this year and last, JJackson and JJames) to UT decommitting from other schools. You guys should be concerned.

Using hot UT chicks to take players around during recruiting and show them a good time---no big deal. The NCAA should spend their time on something important.

This is a far cry from paying prospects or their family members to commit to/sign with UTK. I don't see much "there" there and I agree with the prior posts stating that this appears to be more about trying to muzzle the Vols' coaches than ferreting out any major violation. Considering that this happened in SC and Coach Spurrier has long been considered the actual anonymous source that turned in Bama my guess is that he or someone associated with his institution initiated the complaint. As fans, we really should not worry about this.

Good lord, I just read the article, this is ridiculous... "numerous secondary violations?"

Can someone tell me how many secondaries, on average, that Fulmer and his staff committed on a yearly basis?

I don't understand what everyone is freaking out about? Girls traveled to see a high school football game?

How can they prove the university had anything to do with that?

Sounds like Lattimore and Dunkley are working for someone else.. Otherwise this is a no-big deal thing.. This will be over in a couple of days..

Don't fret..

The story mentions the hostesses being the talk of UT message boards. ??? Not that I've seen. Who is flying hostesses to football games in other states? That's pretty dumb, if true. Not sure if it's a violation--we'll find out--but a bit extreme.

There have been several "popular" threads over the past few years concerning hostesses and some even are referred to as "Giving their all for Tennessee"......One is mentioned by name in a thread last year.

Man, Kiffin has really pissed people in high places off. This is an obvious attempt by those involved to spoil our recruiting class. I mean seriously , just look at those interviewed. And on a side note , I hate Marcus lattimore

Dude, every university has these "hostesses", everyone knows it happens. It doesn't mean these girls are sleeping with players, they are just showing them around campus and befriending them. There is nothing wrong with having a person be a tour guide and welcome committee for a big recruit. This is not really about Kiffin either because this has been happening at TN for a long time.

Pimpin' Ain't Easy. CLK needs to get his dad to dress up in purple velvet pimp suit and start driving a lincoln, that would be tight. Maybe say he hurt his leg and start carrying a cane around.

This will not hurt recruiting, and here's why...

What guy would not want to come visit the school who is under investigation for letting Hot, and I mean HOT, girls show them around campus! I am going to go on an official visit just for giggles, Uh Giggity Giggity Goo!

Gary Willis said that the trip was not orchestrated by Tennessee’s coaches or staff.

“It was nothing planned on no one’s part,” he said of the girls’ visit.

Sounds legit to me, Maybe these girls just love their school that much... I am in sumter and have thought about going to one of the Sumter high games to hold up a sign saying "thanks for choosing Tennessee!" for that kid we have verballed. Not cause I want to sleep with him but because I love this university.

Pardon my ignorance, can someone please spell out what exactly they are investigating.who these "Hostesses" are and what they did wrong so forth. Are we talking about a person we hire to host a visiting recruit, and if so surely we know the rules, right?

I don't think that you can recruit as aggressively as Tennessee does and not push the NCAA boundaries. That being said the article seemed to point out South Carolina and Florida recruits...think Spurrier and Meyers. They are feeling the pinch and they are pushing their own buttons. If I am a citizen of the United States and I want to go to Byrnes High School and I want to hold up a sign saying "Come to Tennessee", I can. Lane Kiffin can't and Bruce Pearl can't and Mike Hamilton can't, but I can. The NCAA needs to go sniff up some other school's ass.

This Sir,,, Well said.

"You don't want to go somewhere where the women aren't pretty." said Marcus Lattimore. No truer words have been spoken. In all seriousness though, this article and the investigation seems to be much ado over nothing. There were no allegations of sex between the hostesses and the recruits ( a la the Gary Barnett era Colorado Buffaloes) and even the parents of the recruits stated that the visits by the hostesses to the respective recruits' games in no way seemed to be orchestrated by the University of Tennessee. This strikes me as our staff just working that "gray-shaded area" just a little harder than the competition.

So what exactly are hostesses? Are we talking about the snack cakes? LOL

Look, Oregeron and Kiffin said they'd have to be cutting-edge and if that's teetering the line, it is what it is. These guys are busuting their a$$ and making it happen. They're defining what that "line" will be.

What kind of a punishment is Kiffin looking at when this is all proven. It sounds like they definitely went to SC, and that's a violation for sure.
