Maybe we could hire the Madison Scout's Alumni Corp to perform in place of TPOTSMB next season.

If growing up in Lenoir City in the late fifties early sixties "city," then I guess I grew up in the city. Ran the ridges from Kingsport to Chattanooga growing up. My family were country people, but they weren't hillbillies. They all had sense enough to know the term is an insult.
First off, let me say that I know ALL of our traditions are sacred and Jesus wears orange..... BUT, if you could change one--or create a new one, what would it be?
Only to stuck-up people who care more about what people think than about their heritage.
Have you ever lived in a northern state and been called a hillbilly because you were from Tennessee? I have, and it was most definately intended as an insult. Got back at the guy though. He was the mayor of a small city in 1991 and a big Notre Dame fan, going to all their games. I bet him UT would beat them at South Bend. If Notre Dame won, I would have to sing the Notre Dame fight song in front of a public City Council meeting. If UT won, he had to sing Rocky Top in the same forum. To his credit he sang every verse, but was very red
faced as he sang. I still have it on tape.
Don't lecture me about defending my
heritage or my beloved Volunteers.
I have been called a hillbilly by northerners and northwesterners(i.e. the people hillbillies call Yankees) more than once and even though it was intended as an insult, it doesn't bother me in the least because I am proud of where I am from and in my experience in life, it just shows their ignorance. There are people in this country that still believe we go barefooted and eat possum every other meal. That just tells me how educated they are, so call me hillbilly anytime. I will just smile knowing I live in the greatest and most
beautiful place this great country has to
offer and the more people that don't want
to be here is better for me and my family.
BTW, I am educated and don't use the
normal slang of the area I live in(I do have
the accent) and don't fit the general
description of a hillbilly, but people are gonna do what they are gonna do and
say what they are gonna say. I didn't mean
to insult you or your family, though. Sorry if
I did.
I would make it a tradition for the fans to stand and cheer for our D whenever there is 3rd or 4th down. I know, I said STAND...it's a crazy concept around Neyland except for the student section.
My three traditions to add:
1) Black jerseys every halloween weekend. I know Kiffin techincally started it, but still, a cool idea.
2) Move back Alabama to the third saturday in October. That's what it is called, that is what day it should be played.
3) Florida-Tennessee played at 8:00 every year. There is nothing better than a night game against UF at Neyland and vice versa.
Id like to see more youthful excitement at Neyland. Now let me explain first. I know there's the whole spelling of Vols and singing Rocky Top (with the woo) but I went to the Tenn-S. Carolina game. Before every kick off they played that zombie nation song and every south carolina fan under the age of 40 were jumping around, swinging a towel and acting crazy. Now sure that's not exactly going to change the outcome of a game but as a recruit Id love to see fans going crazy. Ive been to numerous games Neyland and its just pom poms and clapping. Its one thing that's always turned me off on games at Neyland and the reason I usually go on the road to watch Tenn.
