I would assume so. Pure speculation on my part though.
There isn't much incentive financially for the schools to play the games based on just the payouts from the bowls.
So...it doesn't make much sense to even try this year with the virus and all the factors with it for any reason other than tv revenue and contractual obligations that I can see.
I have followed Tn FB since 1965 (7 years old). Maybe not as long as you but close. Been to many games since that time, donated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, not to mention buying season tickets, preferred parking, literally closets of UT gear, traveling to bowl games etc. I highly doubt few if anyone on VN has invested more or even as much as I have in UT FB. I respect ur choice to continue to support mediocrity if that's what makes you happy. UT lost a lot of my support, when they made the man responsible for the decline of Tn FB, athletic director. Then allowed a has been, X QB who was 0-4 against our biggest rival when he played, have say in future HC'n hires. It is beyond idiotic, that many actually believe Fulmer and Manning have the FB programs best interest at heat. They have always put their self interest first and always will. I put both of them in the rear view mirror years ago. Until the university gets a clue and does the same, UT will continue to be the laughing stock of college FB. LOTS of fans need to come to this realization as well. It's funny, but some of us really do care. Been watching the Vols or listening on the radio when we didn't have a tv since 1960 or so. Graduated in 1973. There has never been a game where I didn't care. I remember a game I really didn't want to go to - Alabama 1982 - Had some people that I was working with - wanted to see an SEC game. I got cash from the bank and went looking for tickets. 16 tickets to be exact. I m glad to have taken my friends from Dallas to their first SEC game. Yes I am running out of "next years".
And again I ask the question. What will two more weeks of practice with this staff do? They lost 7 of their last 8 and looked pretty pathetic doing it. What new things will they learn in 2 weeks? What new motivation can Pruitt provide?the most important aspect of any bowl game is the additional practice time, especially for the younger players.
It helps that we hate our team than the opponentYo I just wanna say this has gotta be the most respectful Tennessee message board I’ve seen. Some of the guys back at the 24/7 board copied some comments from another site and there’s some pretty crappy comments about WVU. Idk if he has WVU confused with Marshall or what but acting like WVU is some Div 2 college is BS. So I do appreciate you guys being respectful. Thank you
Our offense has been more trash, but we do have some talent. You guys are gonna beat us down. It won’t be like 2 years ago. You guys might be hot garbage like we are. But you still have a pretty decent SEC defense and our offense is horrible. We have one good running back and that’s Leddie Brown. I love wvu but I’m not delusional. We might keep it close but our offense is just trash.
Admittedly, a 3-7 football team going to a bowl game is one of the more ridiculous things I've seen in sports.
Who do they expect to travel or pay to see this mediocrity? I guess only being able to have a few thousand people in the stadium helps them. This is an embarrassment and it's somewhat appaling that the administration thinks this is some type of reward.
