I have no idea why someone laughed about this guy as DC. He is not southern, but we do not need everyone on our staff to be Southern. He is also not a mormon I do not think. Dooley had to go against him and knows how good he is. Wilcox also beat Oregon this year and Oregon returns many of the players who he beat. While we should not hire a coordinator based on one game, it is a measure of his skill that he has won so often with who he has on the roster, and it could help the way we start next year and his credibility with our team that he beat Oregon.
Here is a quote from a recent article:
Defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox, architect of the creative schemes that took down Oregon and TCU (among others) this season, is staying at Boise State. Wilcox was a finalist for the D-coordinators post at Texas A&M. Reports out of Texas say Air Force defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter will likely get the job.
Here is more about him:

Justin Wilcox, 32, is in his fourth season as defensive coordinator at Boise State and his sixth season overall after working as a graduate assistant for the Broncos from 2001-2002.
During the first three seasons with Wilcox in charge of the defense, Boise State led the Western Athletic Conference in total defense and scoring defense each year. Last season the Broncos led the WAC in total defense (308.2 yards per game), pass efficiency defense (94.4 rating) and scoring defense (12.6 points per game). Nationally, the Broncos finished 2008 ranked No. 2 in pass defense, No. 3 in scoring defense and No. 20 in total defense.
Before assuming the duties as the Bronco defensive coordinator, Wilcox spent three seasons at California as linebackers coach. While coaching at Cal from 2003-2005, Wilcox helped the Golden Bears to three straight bowl games and 26-12 record. The Bears played in the Insight Bowl in 2003, the Holiday Bowl in 2004, and the Las Vegas Bowl in 2005. Wilcox was credited with turning his linebackers into a unit that epitomized the Cal defenses swarm-to-the-ball philosophy. In 2005 he coached a second-team All-Pac-10 player and two first-team freshman All-America picks.
Wilcox played at Oregon from 1995-99 and was a part of four Duck teams that advanced to bowl games. He played in the 1997 Las Vegas Bowl, the 1998 Aloha Bowl, and the 1999 Sun Bowl. He redshirted in 1995 when Oregon participated in the Cotton Bowl.
