tennessee to go 4-8?

great picture of dooley on the front page of SI ncaa football page. but i'm a little stunned he predicted a 4-8 season for the vols and has the trojans winning 10. 4-8 means we win 1 sec game! i'm all for giving dooley time to rebuild, but i just dont see us winning just 1 sec game. there is obviously a difference in tallent level, and i know i may have blinders on, but does anyone else find this a little harsh?

Outlook for Brian Kelly, new coaches; plus 2010 hot seat watch - Stewart Mandel - SI.com
I also have to say that after reading through all those predictions. Not really sure why, but I don't see Notre Dame going 9-3.

As much as I hate him now, thinking about the UCLA game to this day still pisses me off. One could argue that we could have won 10 games last year. Should have beaten UCLA, Alabama(thanks Dan), and Auburn(I don't put this one on Kiffin because we just didn't look sharp in the 1st half). If we would have had an offense with a pulse we could have beaten Florida. Oh well, woulda coulda shoulda doesn't matter in football.

Is this a joke? We "should have" beat four teams that beat us last year, two of which were at worst 2 of the best 3 teams in the country?

I didn't say we should have beaten Florida. We could have with a decent offense. Even you know we should have beaten Alabama, we beat them in every aspect of the game except Special Teams. UCLA was a combo of bad play calling at the end and not wanting it bad enough.

Must have been a dream come true to start three walk-ons and a true freshman for your opener.

An all-SEC walk-on, and a true freshman you slobbered over. Oh, and six NFL'ers.

I'll rename you Alicia Silverstone because you're Clueless.

We "should have" gotten our asses handed to us on a platter by the Tide based on the relative talent levels and the fact that they have the best head coach in college football.

I will agree with that but we still should have beaten them. Out played them the whole game.

Crompton is quite clearly an NFLer because of the previous staff. Chris Scott was borderline terrible prior to 2009. Hardesty had done next to nothing prior to 2009.

And the walk-on played in all of 4 games last season.

Dooley will get a pass this year no matter what the final record is. The honeymoon will be over next year, unless we have a winning season.

If we have a winning season this year it will shut up a lot of the nay sayers that's for sure. I know what's expected, we're UT don't matter what the expectations for the season are, we expect to win every game and before someone says it, no I'm not ok with 6-6 ot 7-5 but that's where we're at right now.

Dumb.

Seniors rise to the challenge. Hardesty, Crompton (would have been better under Fulmer), Scott.

And the walk-on is All-SEC, and Monte Kiffin sang his praises.

GSM.

PS - you've now ridiculously made your Lennon Creer arguments look even more ridiculous. Great work!

where? Preseason rankings don't really count in the record books

Give it a rest. He might have been a walk-on, and he might not have the tool-kit for an NFL career, but he is highly regarded now.

Don't get sucked in to the stupid.

hey it's your claim just looking for verification. Just need to know that when you post all-SEC that you actually mean 2nd team preseason ranking. It will make it easier for people to read your posts (but not much)

Or, looking to quibble?

I think we have our answer now. ;)

These are not my "claims" at all. It's just recognition that a whole lot of professionals certainly don't agree with the GoF.

They've stated otherwise, but why not listen to you, instead?

Crompton and Dad would be singing the praises of Fulmer and Clawson who would have made him a higher draft pick than he was - thanks to a full, good season and not just half of one.

I doubt it. According to Briscoe, none of the players were buying into Clawson.

If we stay healthy... we win 7+. Our talent level in our 1's is on par with SEC talent. Our 2's seem to be where the work needs to be done. We're thin, but if we stay healthy enough, there is no reason we can' win 7+ games... I may be missing something, but....
