Tennessee to appear in the Music City Bowl

Why did Slive have to lobby for MSU to get into the game then?

I don't think he did, TBH.

I think, that, gasp - the Gator Bowl wanted a Miss. State team with a good record to play Michigan.

Slive is a complete moron, but this shouldn't be where somebody finds fault with him.

The Gator Bowl was only considering Tennessee, Florida and Georgia, per their statements.

The SEC certainly didn't do UT a "solid" and push them up over a couple of better teams, but Miss St and SC certainly could have a gripe about getting the shaft thanks to the Gators. Tennessee is playing where they should be playing, but I do wish the SEC would/could enforce some type of ranking/pecking order among all of the SEC affiliated bowls, not just the Sugar and Capital One. Under the current setup, as long as Florida wins 6 games, they're going to get preferential treatment over other teams.

And Slive will always turn a blind eye to it.

Actually, Mississippi State was in the running pretty much all this weekend.

I thought that Tennessee would get chosen due to the TV ratings that a potential Michigan-Tennessee game could bring in, but Miss. State was in contention as well.

And I didn't hear much about Georgia being considered.

Pretty sure that Ole Miss, Georgia and maybe Arkansas all had more wins than us at the end of the season last year.

Goes by SEC rankings does it not? And we finished 2nd in SECe if not mistaken because we held tiebreaker over UGA and USC.

that's what I've been saying

say it all you want but it doesn't make it true. Until it's confirmed it's basically all talk

same with the Gator bowl this year. Another team getting the nod doesn't mean we got screwed

Ole Miss got a better bowl than us in the Cotton, We beat the $h!+ out of Georgia and finished higher than them in the SEC east, and we had a better Conference record than Arkansas. We didn't jump any of them.

There's no reason a vol fan should be upset with MCB. This is a good bowl for our record. I don't know how much Slive has to do with the process? I don't believe we got slighted! Be Happy with what we got and go support the team.

There were five 7-5 teams. The Vols beat GA and were tied for second in the SECe. Outback took a 7-5 team from the West, i/o picking from the East. So the Cotton and the Outback both had SECw teams. The Outback snubbed the Vols and the Hogs in taking Auburn; Ole Miss took the Cotton. GA was next rung down.

They have a better record than us, get over it. They beat Uga and Uf, while we got annihilated by the two. They deserve a better bowl.

I don't think anyone is denying that. But what pisses people off is the fact that Slive is in Florida's corner. He could've solved the whole thing by making demands on the Outback to take South Carolina or MSU, which would've made everything else fall into place. Instead, Florida gets the Outback, and he goes and screwed with the Gator to make sure everything else falls in place.

totally agree. Miss State had a much better season, but did Mike Slive really lobby for them to get into the Gator??

I don't think it's quite that simple. More than anything there's just a pecking order as far as who gets to pick when.

The Vols did not jump anyone, I do not know why you are sticking by this. We got bumped down from the Outback bowl.
