The 1st column shows the total of players drafted from each school. The second is a cumulative point total of the sum of each school's draft pick. The points were given in inverse order such as 7 pts for a number draft choice, 6 pts for a number two, etc.. Out of the teams tied with 6 players apiece, only Texas had a better draft average than the Vols. I know that there is another thread already devoted to whether the cupboard was bare when Kiffin arrived or did he just "coach these players up?"

How is Florida so high? They only had 2 first round picks, Pouncy and Haden, I believe. Oklahoma had 3 of the top 4 picked overall and I think 5 or 6 in the first round.

That's not too bad. I just don't know if we will have many at all drafted next year. Dan Williams played himself into that draft spot. He made it a point to be better and he did. I don't know how much Kiffin helped him.

Haden, Pouncey, and Tebow are all ones. Cunningham, Dunlap, and Spikes are all twos. Wright is a 3, Hernandez a 4, and Cooper is a five.

For Oklahoma: Bradford, Grisham, McCoy, and Williams are all ones. Clayton was a 4. Eldridge and Franks are 5's.

Opps! I did forget about Tebow. Well, I was really impressed with Oklahoma's talent. Imagine if most of them didn't get hurt this last year how good they could've been.

Boy that Fulmer could not recruit or develop players? I guess it is that kitten that some of you love so much that gets the credit?

Yeah, Crompton was well on track to be an NFLer before Kiffin got here.

Has everyone forgotten how amazed all the players said they were at how much they learned the first day of a Kiffin practice?

You act as if the guys that were drafted didn't have outstanding seasons. Do seven guys playing well mean you're supposed to win a lot of games?

All those guys were on the 2008 team, plus first round pick Robert Ayers. Whoever was coaching those guys must really suck.

UT played a lot of close games last season and UT was a better team then the record indicates. That wasn't really the case the last few years under Fulmer, when UT had some embaressing blowouts.

Give Kiffin and staff some credit, they made the players better then what they were when he arrived.

Go root for Phil at the University of .... oh wait... he still hasn't been hired? Really? Not even considered for a job? Louisville? Marshall? Texas Tech? Really? And Kiffin was hired by a top 3 program in the country? Oh ...

The 2005 Vols had two future NFL draftees at QB. Throw in the first round draft pick at WR and we must have had a really outstanding passing game that year.

FYP.

The only thing Kiffin did for Crompton was give him a vote of confidence. Chaney was the one who developed his skills.

Not saying Kiffin didn't help. Just saying I think you were giving him too much credit.

Even if Chaney was 100% responsible for Crompton's turnaround, Kiffin deserves credit. Our last coach went through three OC's trying to get a guy that could make him play.

Mike Garrett is an idiot and hired a safe, sexy pick for HC.

Phil, Bowden, Paterno etc, will all have a rough go at a HC job because of their age, not their coaching abilities.

I'm a Fulmer fan through & through, but I have to admit that Crompton & Williams wouldn't get drafted without their 09 season. Was that Kiffin or progression? The evidence points to the staff.
