Tennessee Terrace - Hurting For Sales?

Yeah, Sorry. I was comparing 2 tickets at Dallas Cowboys vs. 2 tickets for Neyland stadium. They want a $100,000 more over 30 years for 2 tickets at Neyland for 7 games ( 2 of which will be against teams like UAB & UT Martin) vs in the mezzainene level for 10 games against other quality opponents (2 preseason & 8 regular season ) :hi:

Florida has, to this point, not sold out its allotment for the UT game. You want a sign of the economic times? That's it. No opponent last year sold out their entire allotment, either.

They are expensive, but they are nice. The same can be said of a lot of luxuries in life. Look: a Honda, or a Hyundai for that matter, can get you to work. And, there's nothing wrong with that. But, it's nice to travel in a Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, et al. Some people choose to pay for comfort and convenience. IMO, it makes a lot more "financial sense" to pay for this level of gameday experience than to pay $3+K/year for a pair of cramped bench seats where you have to wait in a crowded walkway for a crappy hot-dog and pee in a bathroom that would be considered an embarrassment in most public high schools.

The extra money you pay for the tix at UT help pay for Dooley and crew to fly around the country and get players to TN. 3000 is not that much dough for people who make a lot of it. If 3000 dollars is not a lot of money to you plus you get the benefits of the interior portion of the project it seems like a great idea.

You need to remove yourself from the idea that three G's is a lot of money.

I mean come on 3000 thousand for big companies and successful business owners is not ****. so stop projecting your personal income ideals onto the high dollar seats.

i like that they keep the money that is made seperate from the university. at least then people can't complain that the university is suffering because of the athletic spending. Like seperation of church and state. i think FOOTBALL is church

It may be, but I would be willing to bet almost anything that the entire stadium won't be. Even last year with all the buzz, the WKU game wasn't sold out. After all the steps back this offseason I have a tough time seeing the stadium full for the opener. Oregon may be close to a sellout, and UF will for sure with all the fans they'll be bringing.

your attitude and sweeping generalization of the VOL faithful leaves much to be desired.

Yeah the team is down but please stop acting like the internet presence is the prevailing attitude of the entire fanbase.

You are currently aware of the amount of fans UF will bring?

I think HD TV and traffic have hurt attendance more than ticket prices and performance.

Hard for most to leave the comfort of home.

That being said I still make it out for one game a year, and I am in CA.

It sux that people wouldnt want to leave the comfort of there home to go see the game live. HD is cool but it does not give the true experience of NEYLAND on game day.

If you're a Florida fan, why would you make a long trip to come watch your squad hammer a team that will be lucky to make the Music City Bowl. Take that money and take the whole week of the Alabama game off and make it a memorable trip.

The Tennessee game will be an easier ticket.

So? Tennessee at Kentucky is almost always one of the easiest tickets around. Doesn't mean I can't almost always find something better to do than traveling to Lexington in crappy late November weather to watch UT's foregone conlusion victory.

My point is that fans of other SEC schools aren't traveling like they once did and that's making a difference in how many games are selling out league-wide.

If South Carolina had sold out their allotment last year (as they had for ever other trip to Neyland they had ever made), that game would have been a sellout. Ditto for UGA and Auburn, who had always traveled well.

The SEC requires each school to make 10% of tickets available to the opponent for conference games. They're looking at dropping that number going forward as every school but one (Alabama) returned tickets to every road game last season.

Hatevol is back to his sad sack bull. Music city bowl? So if UT beats Oregon and pulls one conference shocker how much do you bet it will be explained away?

Deroyal and similar groups are probably waiting a bit to buy 10 seats in the terrace. Will people view that as a very special business perk? I know that long term they will. Seat licenses seem like a good idea to me but now that they have eliminated grandfathered prices and seats they can nimbly get as much as the market can bear.

Was just answering your question regarding why they would go see the Tennessee game as opposed to the Bammer game.

My family had season tickets in the area were the " Tennesse Terrace" is located for 40+ years. I gave 10,000 to the university a few years ago to have them transferred into my name. i was offered the "Priviledge" of having my choose of seats in the T.T. Area for a mere 8,000 for the pair. I renewed on the other side of the stadium, but may be reluctant to do so in the future. Did purchase 5 season tickets in Murfreesboro this season.Anyone else experience this?

80% of the seats in Tennessee Terrace are spoken for- seat selection hasn't begun nor has the online seating chart been updated.. we go up August 12th to select our seats..

If you read the fine print on the chart, it says:

"Seats marked in orange indicate existing seat holders in the west upper deck that committed to Tennessee Terrace. Seat holders in the west upper deck during the 2008 season who signed a Terrace Letter of Intent by December 1, 2008 were given the opportunity to retain their same approximate seating location.)"

So the taken seats are only representative of existing season ticket holders in those sections who signed letters of intent in December of 08. It doesn't take into account new season ticket sales or season ticket holders from other sections wanting to move into the tn terrace.

Same thing happened to me. Had tickets in the West Sideline from 1981 until last year. I had to move due to the West Side Club Seats opening last year.

Those are the seats that have already been chosen. There are certain dates that people who have bought the seats can go to knoxville and pick their seats. Not nearly everyone has picked yet

plus a significant portion of the fee is tax deductible, effectively lowering both the net overall cost and the marginal cost compared to the cramped/crowded/crappy/peetrough experience.
