Tennessee TE Douglas considers transfer after Fulmer forced out (merged)

How would we survive without the massive contributions of Aaron Douglas?

Where's he going to go? If Fulmer took another coaching job and he followed him to that school, that would be one thing, but he just mentions going to a different school and different coach. He says he wants one coach, but wants to transfer???

"Does he want to play for a coach and have a relationship or go through two or three coaches and know that the fans and the administration are in control?"

That comment really bugged me. Who does she think is in control? Technically the adminstration is in control, but realistically fans (boosters included) control things. Without fans, Tennessee would not have enough funding to support a team, just look at ETSU.

But whatever, if he wants to leave, then goodbye, no one really cares. It almost sounds like some players are just throwing a fit in an attempt to keep Fulmer there. I understand they love him and want to play for him, but it's over, he's gone. It's time to face the facts, do some growing up, and move on.

I couldn't agree more with this...

They want to be treated like men and with respect...but they are acting like little brats who are throwing temper tantrums...

And the letter from Douglas' mom is just ridiculous...talking about the "values we have tried to instill in our son are being tried"....Oh cry me a freakin river...

This world is tough and you don't always get what you want and you aren't always right and when you get knocked down you get up, wipe yourself off and move on...you don't act like a spoiled brat little baby

When are these kids gonna start telling their parents to keep quiet? This isn't High School or Pop Warner. Mommy and Daddy can't fix this!

haha!! that's funny. Aaron Douglas is the kid who went around last year bragging to everyone about how he was going to leave for the NFL after TWO years in college (yeah, I know...he couldn't do that anyway). if he thinks anyone will care about him leaving UT, then he's smoked more crack than even HE can handle this time.

Aaron Douglas was named, but they just mentioned a number of people considering transferring. I wouldn't be surprised if Eric Berry, Poole, etc are among them.

If Aaron Douglas is more devoted to an individual then he is to his university, then I would suggest finding his niche elsewhere. Also, he is approximately where on the depth chart at this point?

If Douglas' mom had been on a Lady Vol team that had a .333 winning percentage, I think her perspective might have been a bit different. I am all for loyalty, but friendship can never stand in the way of a PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM IS BIGGER THAN INDIVIDUAL RELATIONSHIPS.

My response to those would be "hit the dang road". If you don't to play for the University of Tennessee then we don't want you.

That being said these are young and I mean young men. Once a coach is in place most will change there mind.

I wouldnt lose any sleep if Aaron Douglas left, or Poole. Eric Berry wont leave, him having to sit out a year would be very detrimental for his career and his draft prospects.

Agreed!

EB is here for at least 1 more year. The other 2...who cares! If Warren cannot play, what makes us think Douglas will??

Read today where Berry said he didn't think anybody was going anywhere. Also said that B.J. was as much of a leader for the young guys as he was, thought that was interesting.

Good post!

I don't think anyone is comparable as a leader to Berry, but BJ should feel flattered by that comment.

That's the class that really needs to be considered throughout the transition. Those guys are the ones who, with the right coach, can bring a championship caliber team to the Hill much quicker. If they can help recruit an incoming class like theirs, the program will recover much more quickly.

Most stay put until the successor is named.......... the new schemes, OC or DC will more likely influence a kid into transferring anyway

I'm think you guys are probably right about Berry. Its not impossible, but it seems unlikely.

I have to think that the university would not fight a request to transfer by any player under the circumstances. If he left and had ot sit out a year, if he went to the right place he could improve his draft stock. If he feels like UT is completely wiped out for next year, it is conceivable that it would be worth it, rather than be on a team that does not highlight his skills and talent. On the flip side, if he stays and excels as he has, he'd really stand out against the crowd.

I'd say 85-15 he stays.

I respect the young man and understand his anger in the situation, these young men have to realize they are committed to the University and the coach...
