Need to use 247 composite for this to be accurate IMO.
I've done a similar evaluation as the OP for many years, 24/7 composite correlates less strongly to wins than rivals singularly. In essence the last time I ran those numbers 24/7 composite numbers favored their own evaluations more than other services, and their evals weren't as good. Maybe that's changed recently, but I doubt it.

Louisville has 12 blue chippers on their 2016 roster; Houston has 8. (source: link provided above)
Overall, Louisville is the 30th most talented team in 2016 per the team composite; Houston is at #52. We are #12.
That's a lot of 4-5* kids but not when you compare this to Bama & a few others schools. Almost every recruit/player is 4* & 5* player. That's where we're hurting.
You just can't beat that type of recruiting. Butch has picked us back up but I don't know if we'll ever be up there with teams like a Bama when it comes to recruiting. Thanks!
Still doesn't matter. 247 composite is what should be used & not Rivals or Scout or any other recruiting service. The composite way is the way to go. :good!:
The whole point of this thread is to show you how out of whack preseason expectations of a playoff or NC team are. Said it all summer, we were 21 points from being 6-6 last season so we aren't that good. 10 wins is about the best this team could do, 8-9 is more reality
Folks I didn't read through the whole thread. I caught enough in the first few post. Quit chasing rainbows. Either you know how to win or you don't. The only coach that displayed winning abilities w in last 10 years was the much hated kiffin He had us a chance to win in 95 percent of our games w an outmanned roster. If u don't put a scare into folks in year one( as he did bama) and beat em in year two( as Hugh freeze did) then the writing is on the wall. As much as these guys get paid, win or hit the road

What doesn't matter?
The fact that Rivals has a far better predictive ability than the others? And, a longer timeline of data with which to check?
It makes no sense to demand use of something that isn't as good as others, all other things being equal.
