Need to use 247 composite for this to be accurate IMO.

Probably the most accurate is the 2016 247 team talent composite rankings. It isn't based on who we signed. It is based on the current roster. While it accounts for attrition, it does not account for injuries.

2016 College Football Team Talent Composite

Regarding 4 & 5 star players on the 2016 rosters - it stacks us like so

AL 61
LSU 56
OH St 54
USC 53
ND 53
FSU 49
Aub 47
GA 44
Mich 44
Clem 41
Tx 41
Tx A&M 39
TN 38
UCLA 35
OM 32
FL 25

And Houston

Louisville has 12 blue chippers on their 2016 roster; Houston has 8. (source: link provided above)

Overall, Louisville is the 30th most talented team in 2016 per the team composite; Houston is at #52. We are #12.

Puts the Vols even further down the talent list - kind of makes you go go hmmmmmm.

What's the argument here? Butch and Co can't recruit? They can't keep players on the roster?

You really can't make arguments like this in year 4. The real arguement to be made is that it's not easy to win a championship. It takes more than talent. Things have to line up (schedule, returning leaders, masking weaknesses, highlighting strengths, and a little luck). The coaches are responsible for virtually all of this.

So we're comparable to UF, aTm and uga. Talentwise the red ellyphants are the only team on our schedule that is significantly better.

Now, performance...

None of this matters this week. It's Florida. I don't care if we are fielding guys that all have the physique of chronic video game players. We are going to whip their a**

You also need to see who is still actually on the roster. Who cares if you signed highly rated guys if they're no longer with the program.

But we didn't need those ones who are no longer here I thought? So why does it matter? Attrition of highly recruited guys is a great thing according to many on here.

The lists provided on page #1 makes you wonder something. Butch has had two top 5 & one top 10 signing class in the past 4 years.

The other year he was top 20 I believe. How in the world could we at least not be in the top 10-15 when it comes to talent in these recruits we've signed? :eek:hmy:

You have to dig a bit deeper and see how many stayed with the program - attrition is high with the kids who have high expectations for playing time. For example, we signed 18 4/5 star players in the 2014 class but only 12 of them were still with the team last season...

We had 35 4/5 star players on last year's roster...Florida had 36...BUT, 29 of our 35 were true freshmen or true sophomores while the gators had 17 true freshmen/sophomores and 19 juniors/seniors…

This year we're actually on an even footing in terms of talent and experience with the gators for the first time in almost forever...

You mean to tell me we have signed more 4 and 5 stars than Florida and they are still whipping our butts. Must be coaching. Even Moosedump beat us with less talent.

By my count we have 37 kids who were 4/5 star recruits on this years roster...we signed 51 but attrition takes a toll plus some of those kids signed are JUCO...

37 isn't too good for having top notch classes 3 out of 4 years. I see you say some were JUCO's but it doesn't matter to me. We should have more than 37 4-5* recruits with the high ranked classes Butch has brought in 3 of 4 years.

Either the players we're getting isn't committing themselves enough or our coaching isn't good enough to coach up to that talent. It's as simple as that. It also could be a combination of both.

I still don't see how we only have 37 recruits in that 4-5* range. That doesn't even place us in the top 20 for top recruits when in reality we should be top 10 for sure. Thanks!
