Kongo was a DE his heart is not into playing DT i dont think we will every see his talent at DT. i remember on NSD in 2016 Butch said KONGO would be a star at DE in the SEC that what hurts recruiting tell a player something and do azz backward i know a lot of coaches does the same thing but BUTCH does it to much just like HURD Butch lied to him that will hurt us in the future with the power tailbacks no way they will give us a look.

The article is correct...can they stay healthy is a HUGE question. They definitely have the talent to be an excellent group! can we just stay healthy?

...we don't need Power tailbacks. We need backs that are quick, agile, pass catchers, pass blockers and for god sake, have the ability to read a zone blocking scheme and get into space. 2 yards and a cloud of dust..hurt us this year. Wasting first down on a power back every series is a waste and predictable.

Did you see how big and slow Kongbo looked last year? He doesnt have the speed needed to be a DE in the SEC.

Reality is that King Kongbo is a big, strong guy that can move.

He's also a workout warrior with a big frame so he keeps adding muscle and weight and that's a really good thing for his NFL future.

Everyone with a eye for talent could see that before he graduates he was simply going to grow into a DT no matter how much he may want to stay a DE.

Now that he seems to be accepting his NFL future will be as a DT in a 4-3 or a DE in a 3-4 he has the opportunity as a Vol to learn both positions really well and give Shoop some flexability to move him around on the line and do some D line stunts with him.

I expect some really good things from King Kongbo as long as he works hard and learns well.

Phillips is the guy I expect to explode as a DE for us and help us miss DB a little less.

IMO Phillips has all the tools to become a All SEC DE for us.

If all our D Linemen are 100% healthy, strong and ready to play by game 1 then I expect us to have a really stout, dangerous D line this season.

Time will tell.

VFL...GBO!!!

Well, there was also this quitter on the team that hurt us. Just saying.

As for where Kongbo will play this year, there's this from Hyams ....

Tennessee’s Jonathan Kongbo will play DE this spring. He has lost from almost 280 pounds to a chiseled 260. Played DT late last year

Hope they just keep him in one place.

This should be a good move for DE depth. Also kinda hurts us at DT, but I think the situation at DT is slightly better than DE this year anyway.
