Scary to see on the screen that we have to have a sweep to get a bye in the tourney!! If we going to get it done our offence has to be found. Too many watching strikes go by with the bat on the shoulder and throw in a questionable coaching move with all these bunts.

So far offensive execution has been bad. Wondering why they have Holcomb as DH since she is the best defensive outfielder we have.

When Rogers pitches, they typically list Holcomb in the DP slot and Parsons in LF on the lineup card, then make the position switch during the plate meeting. This is done because Holcomb is only a slapper, while Parsons can also swing away. By putting it that way in the lineup card, Rogers as the pitcher can hit for herself in place of Holcomb if they need a power bat when the 9 spot in the order comes up without taking up a sub.

Since they make the switch before the game starts, the program that generates the live stats and box scores does not reflect the change being made, it just shows the game starting that way. TV would probably get a copy of the actual lineup card from the coaches and builds their graphics off of that.

I don't know if I read or hear it somewhere that Lockman may come back next year. Anyone have any info on that?

No, according to one of the radio broadcasts last weekend, she is actually starting a job next week and will not be with the team after the regular season.

Did not know that!

how about just put hitters in there to start with instead of all the nonsense! Parsons is a slapper She’s Not a gap hitter at all! They had 5 hits today total off a bottom of the barrel sec team! I wouldn’t put a slapper in the 5 spot in the order that’s for sure, also I don’t like giving away outs to bunting, but if you have to you damm well don’t do it with one out already!

One win gets us fifth and two more wins get us at least third and more than likely a tie for second or even outright second place. How we finish in the SEC may be the best memory of this team. I don't see us getting very far in the playoffs. We will probably win our regional then play on the road in the Super Regional and again be eliminated there. Not disappointed in this team didn't expect them to be great offensively and after losing Shipman just made matters worse. Almost every game we play the lineup has three slappers and another couple players hitting less than .300 for the season. Finishing 15 and 9 in the SEC will be a game better than last season and another 40 win season in softball. Of course maybe we'll get on a streak and get to the World Series anything is possible in sports.

And beyond the slappers at a minimum every time through the lineup two other players are being told to bunt not a recipe for large run production and when we play the better hitting teams we are in trouble from the get go.

Shipman is a very good receiving catcher but Osborne and Phillips look good too and we have the threat of runners being thrown out. Shipman did not throw runners out. For on field leadership -we have Seggern and leach - great team leaders. The issue comes down to players not being developed during the season. Our team is worse when they should be peaking. And where’s philips? Is she injured? She has 10 hrs and needs to be in the lineup

Ally only caught about 20 games more or less and she will before all is said or done throw out a decent number of runners. Phillips in my opinion is the better receiver than Osbron. Phillips has proved and has faded as a better hitter than Osbron as well. Osbron has a better arm but has all but quit hitting anything. Phillips throwing is of poor form and kind of like a girl! I too wonder why she did not get a swing yesterday. We have practically went back to the small ball years of many moons and Ralph has not and seems to avoid at all cost getting especially RH power hitters. We need some bulk in the lineup like every other team has. Our team photo looks like a Ms. USA photo and I like it but we need some meat! Knowing our coaches who I like the lineup yesterday will be the same except AR. Never know but I think Matty today! If we do not hit all bets are off! all I say is JMHO as always!

Phillips drops virtually every pitch and has to throw to first to completely nearly every strikeout. She is not a good defensive catcher at this point in her career.

She feasted on non-conference teams, but once SEC teams got video on her, she was toast at the plate. She’s hitting .204 in SEC play, with 2 HR. Take out the Florida series, the first weekend of conference play and she’s at .184 with 0 HR.

I expect both of those things to improve dramatically next year and I think she’ll have a really good career at UT. But there’s not a reasonable argument to be made that she should be behind the plate instead of Osbron, who has thrown out more runners, drops fewer pitches and is hitting .250 in SEC games.

I'm guessing SRs start today-- Moss pitching, Weimer catching, Leach at SS, Huffstetler at 2B and Bearden RF or 1B. That probably won't hold the entire game. And Ralph plays players when their families are in town, so we could see more Batts as well. Hope the team isn't too emotional and can settle in and clinch the series today. Gotta win-- for the SRs and the bye.

I don't remember Shipman throwing out a lot of runners but I do remember most teams not even attempting to steal on her. I just hope the acl tear does not affect her catching. Huffstetler has played some really good d at 2b but she never has shown or is showing any ability at all to hit college pitching. Parsons would problaby be at 2b but her d needs improvement (which will come I believe). As has been noted and I don't know if next years class meets the glaring need is right handed power it is a must in today's game.
