Bracketing question here...can two teams from the same conference who didn’t meet in regular season be placed in the same regional?

I noticed in the 9-20 RPI grouping there are several SEC teams...two of which SC and UK we didn’t play.
I am no official but I absolutely think they can and since so many SEC teams will be involved in the tourney it will happen and probably will in our case. Of those two you mentioned at best we are 2nd and maybe even 3rd. If and that is a BIG IF, we can show out in the tourney we can improve our seed assuming we sweep TAM. Should be I say unlikely. I read on a thread on VN last year that most coaches really wished we did not have a SEC tourney because of the strength of the conference and wearing down pitchers. They thought losing in the first round may be an advantage.

I wouldn’t have even thought this was an option but then I remembered the Men’s BBall tournament this year where they put Michigan State and Minnesota in same quarter of the bracket. I could see a scenario where they send UT to Lexington if we fall out of top 16.

I actually think it's in the committee's rules that they cannot put two teams from the same conference in a regional. SEC has had all 13 make it before with no regional matchups but tons of super regional matchups. Committee is not afraid to send an SEC out west if they have to.

I am just still shaking my head at how Northwestern is being rewarded by the RPI playing a weak schedule like they have. No series against Michigan or Ohio State with best wins being against Stanford and Louisville.

I hope you are right because I did not know for sure! If anyone ever understands committee going on's let me know what ever the sport. Without a surge in our team top to bottom we will not have to worry much about super regionals. We have looked lethargic and disoriented for the last 15 games or so! Sweep TAM and let the chips fall where they may!

Rankings are crazy this year. The #9 LVs have dropped series to lower-ranked Auburn, Georgia and Ole Miss. Hard to like our chances against UK, LSU or Bama, either-- none of whom we've played and all of whom are playing better than the LVs right now. SCAR could give us problems, too. Our schedule set us up to dominate this year, and the team collapsed down the stretch. After taking the UF series, we should have cruised. It was an opportunity squandered by a team too talented to play like they've been playing.

The LVs can still sweep aTm to finish strong and get good SECT seeding, but that's largely because of a very favorable conference schedule. The lack of consistency could kill the postseason, though. Most teams can beat them if they can't find ways to score.

There must be something in the water. The TN women's basketball team's performance so parallels the softball team this year. They started out 12-0 because of a favorable OOC schedule. They only won 7 more games all year. Made the NCAA tourney and lost their only game. Again, consistent effort and performance were the culprits.

Last weekend of SEC games we need a sweep which would probably give us second place and certainly third place SEC finish. If we win two of three probably finish fourth or fifth. If we lose two of three or worse middle of the pack seems to be where we'd land.
Bama vs LSU would be better for Bama to win all three or LSU to win all three splits either way does not help our finish. We would have to win all three for either winning three to help us.
Georgia and Ole Miss depends on how we do we need Georgia to win all three games.
Sweeping Texas A&M at home want be easy but they do have a 4.00 team pitching era. We hold our own destiny to a high SEC finish second is the best we can do and that would still be better than we were projected to do when the season began.

Need to start off strong with a win Friday. Saturday is SR Day and sometimes, that gets players less focused. I'm guessing Ralph will tinker with the lineup to give the SRs a good chunk of PT. That includes Huffstetler who's not returning next year and Weimer as C. Hard to believe the regular season is almost over. Seems it went by faster than usual!

I did not know or have heard about Huffstetler not coming back!

I don't know if I read or hear it somewhere that Lockman may come back next year. Anyone have any info on that?

Always like our chances when Leach starts off strong. Even better when Seggern hits her in. When Leach and Seggern play well, we usually win.
