Got the win 5 to 2 the first run for Arkansas should not have counted player stepped out of the box five time and even on the triple she hit. If they are gonna have that rule need to call it missing it on five straight pitches is unforgivable.

Holcomb was definitely out on her triple that got us the lead.

Holcomb almost always steps out. They haven't been calling it, so the Weeklys probably figure it's worth the risk to play her until it's called consistently. India has worked with her, but it's a hard habit to break. Good win today. We needed this series.

I wish it wasn't a rule but since it is needs to be enforced. If they missed hers to bad as they missed the Arkansas players five pitches the last was her triple. I can live with the call if Umpires are gonna call it but missing it on five pitches is to much to accept.

Agreed. But they seem unlikely to call it consistently. Barnhill continues to crowhop away with few repercussions, so slappers probably will take advantage of a similar selective enforcement as long as they can.

Anyone know the status of Osbron arm injury ? I was watching the men's BB game vs Iowa and missed seeing what happened and how serious the injury is .

Just got to finish game. Great job Matty again. The stepping out evened up for us cause Holcomb was out on that triple. Happ was called for illegal pitches the last series they played a side shot showed she was jumping out without dragging at least some. Bearden was in the very front of the box on that homer so we adjusted in the end. Good win I know Pancini struck out both times the last two days but I like her swing given at bats she will produce I think. Good win.

I don't think it's a matter of enforcing the out of box rule. I think it's very hard to look in 3 places at the same time. The umpire must first watch the ball and see if it's in the strike zone. He must also watch the bat to see if it breaks the plane of the plate on a swing. He must also turn his attention to the ball if it's hit in case he has to make a fair/foul call on a rolling ball down the line. Hard for anybody to do all that and still notice a foot out of the box, especially after the chalk gets disturbed the first few innings. I don't know how to put a percentage on it but I'd guess it'll be missed north of 90% of the time.

Watch every slipper on every team....... they ALL step out of the box..... most umps won’t pay much attention to it unless the opposing team starts complaining about it...... I’ve watched many softball games and it seems to me that 90% of slappers are still stepping out of the box.

Stepped out of the box on five straight pitches no call and Ralph must be asleep in the Dugout. Then she gets a hit out of the box.
Yes she was out on every swing including the fouls. Then she triples and scores standing out of the box. Player number 7 and she did not play yesterday for stepping out Friday. I had to watch the tape since game was early and I watched every batter that batted. She was the only one on Arky.

Just how is she illegal? asking for a friend!

She crow hops and has been called for it many times over her career. And like Barnhill at Florida, it could honestly be called pretty much every pitch if the umps actually followed the rule book. It played a big role in their series at Ole Miss earlier this month.

It's more noticeable when she throws her riseball, which she didn't do a ton of in Knoxville for whatever reason, but it's a go-to pitch for her. Maybe their staff is trying to keep her from doing it since it's very noticeable when she throws it given the natural upward motion.

I see and she knows that Barnhill has gotten away with it going on 4 years I do not expect her to change and why should she. Illegal pitches being called are few and far inbetween and stepping out of the box is the new trend. Happens a few times every game and called seldom. Thanks!

I noted earlier on a side shot of her pitching is obvious she is leaping out without dragging. Really hadn't paid much attention to it til I saw the side angle. Too blinded by the outside calls of the ump yesterday to focus on anything else I guess.:)

That lady ump yesterday must have a lazy eye. Many of those pitches was not hittable with a tennis racked. Jus think about it: She struck out 15 batters. That is a full 5 innings that we did not put the bat on the ball at all. We have faced more and better pitchers this year than her and she is their #2 pitcher and they brought her back today. She was not as sharp but AS was not even close to sharp. I heard Ralph say yesterday I think that she was just tired and exhausted. I guess the question begs to ask then why start her? I really think Matty could have handled it but we won and who the hello am I?

It's really ridiculous that it doesn't get called more. It's just as easy to spot as the out of the box thing, and as you said the out of the box rule is pretty new and the rules for pitching have been the same forever.
