Tennessee Softball

Just got to watch was at church. Great game Ashley and I don’t think she had her best stuff. She was shaken some that first game great rebound. Seggern came around. We hit enough to win which after the start of the day you take and run. Win series tomorrow and move on Missouri has been hot. Hitting needs to get going but the weather was brutal.

That first game we just got to far behind. We had ten hits but they were kind of hap hazard. I was not overly impressed with their pitching myself . I know they have been hot but a win is a win!

Up to this point in the season Missouri has been known as a great hitting team with so so pitching and even worst defense (which they showed some today). As Karen noted after first game we took to many good pitches. Our great hitting start to the season was based on us getting a good pitch and ripping. Losing Ally has hurt the offense too.

What's up with Leach's lower walk and higher strikeout numbers this season? She has almost as many Ks this season as she did all of last season, and her walks are WAY down.

From the games I'm watching, not just Tennessee, they're calling a bigger strike zone this year. I bet if you go back and look, at least a third of her Ks are looking at pitches that weren't strikes last year.

Did anyone notice the speed of Ashley's pitches yesterday? Some of her pitches were showing 73mph. I'm thinking the radar might have been out of calibration cause the Missouri's pitcher was showing 70. That seems awful fast to me. I think Monica's pitches were around 71 or 72.

I noticed that and the other pitcher hit 75 . Speed inflated by wind I guess but they were not throwing that fast I don't think. I guess Karen ran Ralph out of the third bas box so we could score some runs!!LOL

It was the same way in the first game. I turned it on about the 3rd inning and Mizzou's pitcher was registering 75. I thought holy crap, this is the hardest thrower in America. I called my kids and told them to pull up the game. Then Arnold came in the next half inning and she was registering 75. She normally tops out around 65 on the UT broadcasts. I think either their radar gun sucks or the effects of gravity are not the same in Missouri.

I did not even notice the radar speeds. That's some bad radar. :p Trust me no pitchers anywhere on that campus yesterday was hitting speeds anywhere near what Monica threw in collage or now.

Our pitching so far this year overall has been excellent. Maybe not one stud dominating ever game but look around that's not the way the collage game is these days even the best pitchers if seen enough will get hit at a certain level. Look at Barnhill this year (she is a front runner in my opinion if she has the lead or it is going well she is great give her a little pressure or adversity and she caves many times). Matty has pitched great this year, Ashley is just what the pitching doctor ordered, and Caylan the last few times out has looked good. If we keep this up we could go a ways in the post season.
