Tennessee Softball

I said it yesterday and I’m sure they will struggle but this freshman class can hit if we can get another stud pitcher a lot of great years ahead

Yes, we needed hitters in past years, excited about this year’s possibilities. There are several pitchers coming in next year, some top notch.

Tennessee has the top ranked recruiting class coming next year, with one as pitcher only, and another 3 as possible pitcher and another position. For now, this year’s team is looking pretty impressive!

Yes Flo does have replays with membership but it appears only for as long as the tourney lasts they do not keep them up long term

For the first 18 games of the season this has been the most balanced lineup top to bottom that Tennessee has fielded in several years. Last year 1 through four were the key with the next five suspect. This season all nine are capable and were getting production from a lot of players. Phillips has more power that any players we've had in many years. The homer I saw her hit the other day was about three seconds from bat to over the fence. I thought pitching would be the strength with the hitting having some struggles now I see this as a well balanced team that appears the be a legitimate top ten. Were gonna be right there for the SEC title even with that tough beginning series with Florida I'm think 18 SEC wins this season.

Today's and tomorrow's games cancelled due to rain. Guess that's it for this weekend.

Michigan and Oregon would have been good tests for the LVs heading into SEC play.

Guess I'll get a refund

Florida still has the ole crow hopper but they did not hit well this weekend. New Mexico lost to them in extra innings that we bashed yesterday. They have some big ole hitters though. Can we pitch enough to out score them will be the question. How many games will they go with Barnhill? I saw most of the Washington game (they have a really good pitcher) she is still doing her "thing" leaping but seems to have tone it down some. I could only see from behind. Imagine a world where they "watched" Barnhill like they do Holcomb. What a wonderful world it would be!

Barnhill gets out-of-sync when she gets called for illegal pitches. The other SEC coaches will need to talk to the umpire when she pitches and make sure they watch her. That's what they do with the step-out slappers. The JMU coach approached the umpire several times when they played UT. Holcomb's going to have a hard time this year if she doesn't get her footwork fixed. India's worked with her, but old habits die hard, especially during games. The LVs are looking pretty solid, especially with Holcomb.

Could not agree more!!! We need her at her best. By the way any info on what the deal with Segrene was?

Are you anywhere being close by to go watch any games for next weekend?
Isn't Florida ranked #1 and still the favorite to win it all this year?
Ok, looked up at ncaa.com (FL is supposed to win SEC). I’m in West Palm, not close, and would love to go, but one of my pups is almost 17, almost totally blind, and I can’t leave him. National rankings through 2/25/19 are: 1. FL ST, 2. UCLA, 3. FL, 4. OK, 5. WA, 6. AL, 7. TN, 8. GA, 9. Tx, and 10. LSU. After seeing TN play FL ST, believe we can play with anybody. GO LADY VOLS!!!

Sad to hear about your pup. I got FL & Fl St mixed up w/the rankings. I was watching sports center last night & they were giving updated scores for the softball teams & noticed Georgia was ranked #8. And I said to myself, I thought our Tenn girls were ranked that.
With our games being cancelled I'm having withdrawal pains. I totally agree w/your last sentence.

I know about having a pup/dog go blind friend.....It is so tragic and breaks your heart.....Saying good by to her was agonizing...Will never forget her...I have her ashes in a nice urn on my dresser...

Yesterday, I took my other 2 dogs to a lake we frequent for their walks along the lake front... I always stop and look at the place my poor little TC had almost walked into the lake because she could not see it anymore...I had taken her there for many years to play, before she lost her eyesight...Memories are strong..

Take care of your pup, and don't worry about the LVs....Your pup is far, far more important.

Thank you so much. His name is Casey, named him after Casey Clausen. Picked him out before he was born, said if one looks like the Father, I want him, and he did. Took his brother Cody, too, who is already gone. He stays inside now, all the time, we have terrazzo floors, easy clean up. He can’t see the water bowl, etc., so needs a lot of help. He went in shock once and appeared to be gone, but I patted his back and kept calling him, and he came back to me. He is special. That’s nice you can take your pups to the lake. We have 3 other dogs on a canal-lagoon, and are fenced, they don’t get in the water, but they have lots to see, and can run free and chase Iguanas, etc. A dog shows you so much love and affection, always loyal.

I can tell by your words you are a very kind person....This is good.

Love Casey all you can....I know you do friend.

I always talked to TC to let her know she wasn't alone, I was always there for her......Even though she couldn't see I would take her for car rides and let her stick her head out the window sitting on my lap to feel the wind in her face and to smell all the scents in the air....She always enjoyed it....

My other 2 dogs stayed close to her, as if to watch out for her....They seemed to know she was a sick girl...When that final day came, they stayed extra close to her before we had to take one more ride....She had gotten so sick she couldn't stand. It was time, but it was still a terrible time.

As I said earlier I had gone back to TC's favorite lake yesterday, waiting for the men's game to begin.....And yes, I always think a lot about that dog whenever we go there....Precious memories.

Someone must be cutting onions...I better go.

Rough way to start SEC play with a three game series in Florida. Do we ever play them anywhere but Florida I guess we do but it seems to me we are mostly down there. I hope we can avoid the sweep at least win a game. Two of three would be amazing and winning all three is a dream. Go Lady Vols!!!
