Anything could happen I guess but to my knowledge there is nothing to be concerned about with Sage. Can’t say the same about Erin, unfortunately.
They both have the ability to command number one money, if other programs come calling, you have the ability to pay one of them like that, would be tough to pay them both. I think there is some middle ground if everyone is invested in winning. I know that Sage is one of the Adidas athletes that got in on their in-house NIL program, so hopefully that keeps her solid.

She’s also extremely close with a number of her teammates.

I understand we don’t have many graduating… but it’s time to start recruiting over some people. Batting averages of 200 aren’t cutting it. I really hope we can pick up atleast 2 big bats in the portal or we never have a shot to win.

We’ll have several more enter. As for portal pickups, I don’t think we plan to take many. We have a lot of experience coming back.

It once again was a disappointing ending to the 2026 season, but when you look at the big picture this team exceeded a lot of expectations getting back to the national semis for the second year in a row. Like everyone has said we would only go far as Pickens would have taken us. It truly was a pleasure watching her on the mound the last 4 years for Tennessee.

Here is what next years roster is looking like:

Seniors: G Leach, A Leach, Mardjetko, Knight, Faw, Rutan

Juniors: Dodge, Butt, Shuler, Nuwer, Morgan, Clarke

Sophomores: Doyle (Redshirt), Sims, Morrison, Holley, Barnhart, Hardenburger

Freshman: Plumlee (Redshirt), Bailey, Krause, Mcfield, Shelton, Stockwell

That puts us at 24 on the roster for next season. It is looking like next years team will be a mixture of some youth and some veterans, but I think the experience being in OKC playing in some big games is something that those who return will benefit greatly from. However, once the portal opens I expect a few of the players on this years roster to put their names in immediately.

By position this is what next year is looking like:

P: Nuwer, Mardjetko, Hardenburger, Plumlee, Shelton, Krause, Rutan

C: Morrison, Stockwell

IF: Faw, Rutan, Dodge, Butt, Clarke, Doyle, Barnhart, Bailey

OF: Shuler, Morgan, G Leach, A Leach, Holley, Morgan, Sims

UT: Mcfield

IMO I think the ones most likely to hit the portal are: Nuwer, Morgan, Sims, Barnhart, and Hardenburger. I know someone mentioned that Plumlee was mostly likely going to leave, but I think it would be a shame to redshirt and then transfer knowing how much of a highly ranked recruit she was coming in.

I know I was not as active during the season (grad school is rough), but I think the BIGGEST area of concern is the offensive depth. We need to have at least 2-3 bats off the bench that can contribute in OKC. I think not having Doyle was hard as I think she was in a position to be a biggest power bat for us. I expect Butt, Rutan, and Morrison to have a big year next year after seeing P4 pitching pretty consistently. If we can get 1 or even 2 proven bats on the roster next year I think it will be a big win for the team. As far as pitching is concerned Sage will definitely be the ace coming into next season but after her is a big question mark.
I do not think Nuwer will portal out. JMHO

Looking at this… A lot of people could be recruited over. Lol

Your proclivity to keep trying to reframe the same types of questions makes you appear to be...well a troll...or the parent of a player for another team.

Example: Last week you posted words to the affect "Wow, just saw on Facebook that Sage and Nuwer maybe going to Texss Tech and Oklahoma." After Deerpark assured you that he didn't see that happening you posted the following about two days later.

"While wearing my Tennessee gear at the WCWS several Tennessee fans came up and asked if Sage and Nuwer were transferring?" Then you asked if anything to it?

Now you are advocating recruiting over players whom just finished third in the nation.

Your troll is getting really tiresome!

I think you missed a lot of posts where I had positive things to say. I sat in an army of texas fans (who were nice btw) and the transfer portal was brought up. I read all the sub threads everywhere else and see stuff just like you all do. I also saw the potential and how close we were this year and just imagine how good we would be if we had some hitters, so no. I’m not a troll, I’m being realistic in saying if we want to get over this hump that we seem to be stuck at then we need some hitters.

Plumlee is surprising. Highly ranked pitcher that was gonna see significant time in the circle
Nah, when she hadn't cracked the lineup by mid March and they agreed that she would redshirt, this was always going to be the next move. I'll be interested to see where she ends up, if she goes smaller to try and be an ace and work back up to an SEC-level school or does she try to get a spot in the ACC as a #2/3.

Sure hope you are right. 🤞🏻 If we have both Sage and Nuwer, add another strong pitcher, don’t lose any other regular players from this season, then go hard in the portal to add some consistently productive hitters, we should be in decent shape to get back to AT LEAST as far as we got this season next season.

Yeah, I know. That is asking A LOT. It is. But it’s not that far-fetched to think it could happen.

Are there any Tennessee natives who are ripe for the picking? I have ZERO insight into the softball recruiting scene, but I’m always interested to hear there might be a lifelong Tennessee hopeful in the wings. 🙏🏻

She wasn't going to get to play here next year either. Everyone is back.
"Saviya Morgan in the portal." --Could see this one coming a mile away -the writing was on the wall. She started her entire freshman year, batting first most of the time. This year she started a handful of games and never could make much impact. She was an occasional pinch hitter or pinch runner. Tremendous speed, but subpar hitting this year. Unless some outfielders transfer out next year (highly doubtful), I don't see a place for her in the lineup. I really don't see any starters transferring out, but in this day and age, it's anybody's guess...

We had the team to win it all this season with a couple more reliable hitters. Lost a lot of one run games and of course won some also. You can't hold teams like Texas and other top teams to two or three runs most of the time you have to be able to score five runs at least. We beat Texas 6 to 3 and lost to them 5 to 2 and 4 to 0. Have to be able to score will be the same next season as pitching looks to still be above average so hitting and scoring will define that team as well.
