A look at the positions

1B- I am ok here with Butt and if Doyle can come back healthy. If Doyle not back then this would be a position where we could use another power hitter. Butt may can do the job as a full timer but that is not certain.
2B- Clark I feel will have a huge breakout season next year.
SS- Must get a lot better hitter.
3B-Dodge really slumped end of the season. Even with the error she plays a solid third base. We need her to hit more than .293
RF- Taelyn should be a lot better as a sophomore. A. Leach should have a great senior season. I'm ok with this position
CF- We could really use a big power bat here. Would like to have a 20 plus homerun player here.
LF- Gabby like her sister should be a improved player next season hopefully about 20 homeruns.
C-I like Morrison great job as a freshman big season next year.
DH- I guess it is Leach or Taelyn here

So SS, First maybe, and Centerfield is where we need to get some power who can also hit for a decent average.
disrespecting knight who was our best hitter by nearly .100 is crazy. absolutely no way u recruit over her. she’s one of the best hitters we’ve had in a while at tennessee avg wise.

Any truth to the rumors about Sage/ and or Erin leaving? Idk with the way college sports is now it’s the Wild Wild West

This was posted about Sage in another thread.

She has already signed an NIL agreement with Tennessee for next year, so I would be very surprised. That would have to be bought out by TTU and Tennessee would have to agree to let her out of it, which I don’t think is realistic. She is also set to be one of the faces of Tennessee’s Adidas rollout, don’t think that opportunity would have been awarded to her if there had not already been some certainty about next year.

They need three real hitters and more in-game awareness on everybody's part. Also stop nodding at every pitch, swing etc....

Regarding the game, Weekly has been a very successful coach, so I am not calling for her to leave or anything, but I think she takes the blame for the first game loss. I can't understand why she pulled Nuwer after the second inning as she was pitching reasonably well and has been the best pitcher on the staff the second half of the season with the best ERA. She ended up giving up only one run while she was in the game. Also, in the second inning when there were runners on first and second with no outs it seems like the best move is to bunt them over. This puts a runner on third who can score on a sacrifice or an infield grounder and reduces the chance of a double play, but done deal. For the second game the main issue was no hitting and Pickens was not at her best. I was also looking at the batting averages, and Texas has 2 400 hitters and 5 300 hitters, Tennessee had one of each.

Regarding next year I certainly hope that we keep Nuwer as she is an excellent pitcher with the potential to be as good as Pickens, and we also need to keep Mardjetko. We also need another very good third pitcher. Not sure about the freshmen pitchers. We also must improve the hitting, which may include getting a better hitting coach as the team average is not acceptable for a championship caliber team. Just my thoughts on the game and team. GBO.
Newer will never be a Pickens

It would be nice to keep our pitching staff intact. But probably not a realistic expectation in the age of NIL.

Other than TT, are other programs investing higher amounts to softball NIL? As a team that's a national power every year, I would think we are competitive in NIL. Just that damn TT billionaire desperate to buy a championship in some sport. I hope they always fall short, and I hope he goes broke chasing championships.

I'm bitter like that.

I could be completely wrong here, but arent Sage and Erin's pitching styles very similar with ball movement? Would we be better off with Sage and someone out of the portal that throws a little more heat to keep opposing teams off balance similar to thi year?
Im not that well versed in this subject so go easy if I am way off here.

Lot of versatility with the incoming freshman class. Krause, lhp, Shelton, rhp/lhb with athleticism to play a position, over .600 batting average as hs senior, lots of doubles with occasional power, speed on base paths, Stockwell, true power hitter, 3rd. base & catcher, Bailey, ss, gets on base & has speed, McField, another speedster.

Will Stockwell be a day 1 starter? She seems like the real deal.

Newer is more high/low pitching. Sage is spins and offspeed.

I strongly suspect that Pickens’ above-average-for-a-pitcher height is what helped separate her from everyone else as far as velocity. The last above-average-height pitcher we had was Monica Abbott, and she also broke the record for velocity.

Just a few inches of body and arm length can make a huge difference.

She hit .262 in conference play so that needs to come up since she is not a power hitter. Her non conference play was outstanding, but needs to hit a lot higher in the conference if she is going to be the starting centerfielder.

Although we thought we were getting one in 2018 with the signing of 6’1” Gabby Sprang out of Minnesota.
