• Home Run Situation: If a runner leaves early on a home run, the appeal is not applicable. The play is considered a "delayed dead ball," meaning the play continues, and the defense cannot appeal the runner's early departure after the home run is hit.

The umps in that game clearly were not aware of this rule since they allowed the appeal. Not surprising.

They were not aware of what was a ball and a strike. The strike call on Dodge may have been the worst strike call in the history of softball.
