Tennessee Softball 2026

Yes I think Nuwer definitely proved in this tourney she is a pitcher that can be elite this season.
Right now I am thinking Karen is using Sage as an opener. She may get some extended innings against the Mid Majors we play, but she looks to be a one time through the order opener for Pickens in some SEC games.
Super plate discipline I think the guy Karen hired is paying off big in year two. I saw very little bad pitch swinging they wait for strikes to hit. They swing at good pitches.
Part of Sage only being “opener“ at this point is she is still working up her pitch count, from what I understand. She wasn’t cleared to throw coming off her surgery until sometime in the fall and didn’t throw a competitive inning during the fall. She’s going to have to work up her game stamina, which is very doable right now.

Me again, can somebody explain the double scheduling of Appy State and Penn State two days in a row? Pretty sure that is what I just read in the schedule.

Edited to correct

Well, when you host a tournament and only have one field to use, the only way for all of the teams to get five games in is to play some teams twice.

Missouri State is 6 and 3 but they have played some of the weaker teams. Batting .269 as a team haven't faced any pitching like they will see against Tennessee.

Their pitching staff is in at 5.68 era although they do have one pitcher with a very low era.

Never say any game is an easy win but if ever one looked like it this is the one.

Here is there roster of hitters

Erin will be a workhorse for this team. Won't be surprising to see both her and Kar with sub-1 ERA's at the end of the year especially if we can keep getting the barrel on the ball and making defensive plays. Bella has SS locked down and has made some AA plays. She's hitting better too. Maddi is a natural at 3rd and when she pitches, Emma takes 3rd. Emma is making plays and Sophie seems to always get on base and score. Ella and Gabby are spark plugs to make the offense fire but really every player is also batting really well. Been following a long time and can't remember a team that was so effective at all three elements (pitching, batting and fielding). We've had 2 of them plenty of times and 2.5 a few but this year most everything is clicking early. Looking forward to getting Sage and Peyton back to full strength.

We've only given up 2 errors in our opponents 207 at bats.
