Tennessee Softball 2026

Great win to start off the tournament! I like the use of our staff. It looks like Karlyn will have some help this year. If we can score some runs we will win a bunch of games this year. I can’t remember the last time we didn’t start a single senior excluding pitchers. UCLA and FSU will be great early season tests. Just gotta be businesslike against JMU and FAU and not look ahead.

I was at every game and pretty much everything you said (IMO) was wrong. It’s early in the season and we have some new players in key roles. Players from last year have gotten better. Role players did their job and advanced players into scoring position. Pitchers were excellent. Weather stunk and it was miserable for the players as well as the fans sitting on those cold aluminum bleachers. Tennessee fans traveled well and were vocal in their support.

Your obvious dislike of Bella is unfair to her. She made several great plays and I don’t remember her making any errors. Her batting has improved and she is a very good SS who will continue to improve regardless.

It will take more than 2 weekends to know how good this team will be. We caught everyone’s best pitcher this weekend and I’m sure that will happen next weekend as well.

IMO, rankings at this time of the year are not that accurate. #5 Oregon lost 3 of their 5 games, #21 Liberty lost all 5 of their games. I thought both had very good teams.

Over our 5 games:

We had 29 hits total

Drew 31 walks

Hit 6 home runs and 8 doubles

Had 26 RBI’s

Only had 1 fielding error and a .992 fielding percentage

Kar, Erin and Sage had a 0.0 ERA

Pitchers gave up 9 walks, 12 hits (2 of them extra base hits) and struck out 42 batters allowing only 2 runs.
Very well said. In total agreement!

Alright… no hate, but what happens if Faw cannot get the bat going? Who do we have to replace her? We need another bat in the lineup when we hit SEC play… she is an automatic out.
Emma Clarke can play there. Don't know about Barnhart, but she may be an option also. I don't see a change as long as she can hit .200 and Clarke would be the next option I would think.

The Lady Vol stats overall as a team just .294 but also an impressive .482 obp. so were getting on base at close to half our at bats. Our 0.31 pitching era is totally awesome don't think any team could hold that kind of pitching era for a season, but definitely pitching looks to be the strong point of this team. Seen some clutch hitting thus far from several of the players really coming through with runners on base.

Does Marjetko (spelling) start vs FAU or Nuwer... I think saving Pickens for UCLA ( hopefully) and FSU.
I think Marjetko may open that game. She will probably try to get her through three inning and then to Nuwer. If it is a close game with us leading I wouldn't count out closing with Pickens.

Don’t have a clue. Do we try to give KP rest after only 49 pitches yesterday and leverage her only in game critical situations THIS EARLY IN THE YEAR? Not sure what arm dynamics really are.

is our 3 deep stronger than years past? Maybe 4 after starting Hardenbarger(sp). Most are in the long and lanky mold and don’t know if that is a good or bad thing for overnight recovery. Relevant at all?

What does our more informed folk think?
