She didn't have quite the season that I expected from her.

I’d take Riley as a walk on but that’s it. She’s kind of mid tbh. Only 52 strikeouts in 79 innings and an ERA near 3. She wasn’t even the best pitcher at Ole Miss.

I just don’t think she’s good enough to be a reliable #2 here. At best I see her as a midweek starter / reliever for Pickens

A good finish to the season will really attract some players. After watching some of the regionals there are A LOT of good mid major pitchers out there. I’d say just taking 1 pitcher is great considering what we have coming in as far as pitchers. Next year might be a growing year in the circle as far as pitchers aside from Pickens. We shall see

Regardless of how talented, there will be a learning curve. We must get a portal pitcher in the offseason.

Payton is the most edgy competitor on the mound that we’ve ever had in Knoxville, IMO. The way she even works so fast. It’s like she absolutely cannot WAIT to make the next pitch and be closer to sitting those batters down!

I love her fiery spirit and am already having to fight off mourning over the fact she won’t be here next season.

Believe they’ll take a solid option in the portal for a #2. Charli back as a midweek, the young ones won’t have to be rushed.
