Tennessee should have kept Phil Fulmer (orlandosent.com)

Where do I start. Fulmer is a real Tennesee boy. At least his heart was in it and he bled orange. He wasn't some fly by night band aid that never did nothing but hurt when it got ripped off. Fulmer may not have had great years every year but he gets a pass in my book.

And yet Kiffin and his staff, by all accounts, outworked Fulmer and his Tennessee boys by a wide margin.

Thank You!!!!! ...... He didn't do junk as our head coach ...... Crompton's turn around half way through the season was because of Cheney and Lane couldn't accept that (although he took all the credit) because he is the "almighty" when it comes to offenses. I really wouldn't be surprised if Cheney straight told Lane if he didnt change some things about JC he was not going to win much more games this season and a bowl would for sure be out of the question.....

Jon Crompton says differently, but I guess that's probably an unreliable source.

And the game-changer: Quote me now.....IF LANE HAS A SUB-PAR YEAR THIS YEAR....PAT HADEN FIRES HIM!!!!! Mike Garrett is just as big an idiot, if not bigger, than Lane. Think about this....The guy YOU HIRED TO BE YOUR HEAD COACH IS THE SAME GUY WHO IS THE REASON YOU GOT SANCTIONS Now that there is a guy with morals and integrity running that athletics dept, I think he is just looking for a reason to get rid of him. I mean if you want to get rid of everything that is associated with the sanctions (Reggie and his Heisman) then you also got to consider the asst coach at the time who was a part of it. Lane is deucing a brick now and he should be

Lane is the reason Reggie Bush got an agent?

And the most over looked happening throughout this whole thing is the fact Norm Chow turned down going back to USC ....... You know why???? ....... LANE KIFFIN!!!!! ...... This is one of the best OCs in the game who knows coaching and knows that working for Lane you have little to no input because of his arrogance and thinking he knows. Kennedy Pola is going to find out real quick that he might have made a mistake when he realizes that he is basically there to where a head set and listen to what Lane wants to do.

Please show us one shread of evidence that Lane had anything to do with the Reggie Bush situation.

It's the school he played at and won a national title with. I'm sure he loves his legacy, but I'd be surprised if he would have left, at least not when things were good and all the fans loved him.

I don't think he would have left even without his UT loyalty simply because he'd have to know he couldn't skate by with such mediocre results at USC.

In college football there is recruiting. It is when a coach from a certain team tries to get high school players to come play for their team in college. If you are fortunate enough kids will sign what is called a National Letter of Intent (They have day for this in Feb of every year)

When you don't have any morals or care what possible problems a kid could bring to your school, you do not care who you offer scholarships to.

You see there was a situation here in Knoxville a while back at a Pilot gas station (you might have heard of it) and there was also an incident at a "BAR" (again don't know if it was brought to your attention) and both of those led to 3 players being KICKED OFF THE TEAM that A CERTAIN coach recruited

You are on sanctions because of players that your certain coach thought would represent your team best

Enough shred????

Anyone that actually believes this (keeping Fulmer) pays no attention whatsoever to the evolution of college football or the SEC. Christ-how stale did the program have to get before a change would have been made? And even with the changes they still landed 2 straight top 10 classes-better than what Phil was bringing in, whose players just get kicked out/leave anyways/and or don't develop into anything (I know this is an exageration of sorts). Plus-the talent is down now because of Fulmer. If ever a case should be closed it's this one.
Well Said

And this has what exactly to do with your claim that Lane is the one responsible for USC's sanctions?

Fulmer would have booted five high-character, no-talent losers to get Reggie Bush.

As it stands, Montori Hughes, Chase Nelson, and Marlon Walls are all Fulmer signees.

I'm also pretty sure Fulmer went after Darren Myles, the guy just wasn't interested.

Its very Hard for us UT fans to be patient! Because we billed to have an amazing Championship run after 98! And it never came! We had only 11 Srs. on that team!!!! The debacle in the Georgia Dome vs LSU. We would have beaten Miami! The 2008 season with a Sr. Oline 2 good RB and all the talent on that team! But Fulmer who's whole Offense says pro-style goes and get this guy from Richmond and screws up everything! the D was rank # 5 that year! so we are a little impatient but what do u do

so in your opinion fulmer and/or dooley wouldnt' have recruited these players?

Obviously a Fulmer player has never violated any laws, gotten in any fights, or drank a drop of alcohol before the age of 21.

Miami would have ravaged us. Clawson's offense wasn't all that outlandish.

it's my opinion that if lane would have stayed we would keep having off the field problems every year because he wouldn't care

Sort of like what happened throughout Fulmer's entire tenure and what's already happened in Dooley's first year? Sort of like what's happened consistently to super saint Mark Richt?
