Tennessee recruiting outlook: OL & LB

I've been saying this for a while. The three you mentioned are the only scholarship LBs we will have returning.

Yep. If Maggit were to go pro, the 2014 spring game could be ugly with LB's. That is why it is important that we try to get a couple of EE's at that position. We will be playing some walk-ons for the first team.

When I heard "Lawson," I thought of the Kentucky kid "Lamar Dawson," whom most of us thought was a UT lock a few years ago until he went with USC at the last second. Looks like he's been starting there since he was a freshman so he's pretty darn good, but he's no A.J. Johnson.

Anyway, "ifs & buts"...

I think there are a couple of guys on the roster that will switch to LB. JRM is one. I also think if the new TEs pan out that Justin King could switch back. Still, the depth is in critical condition.

Sure would have been nice to have had Santos (UTjr.), Peters (Ark.), & Zanca (Duke) on the roster right now but see the "ifs & buts" comment above.

Looks like Bates and Mouhon are likely signees and Wilson has us in his top 5.

After writing this, I just noticed the following article of interest on our LB prospects. I had no idea we were so high up in the mix for Garrett!

He can P.D. but I think they are hoping Vereen will be a stud Def. End due to the lack of numbers. Just my opinion.

I thought at some point he was listed as both, I just couldn't remember if he played de or lb in the spring game. If he is talented enough why not have both. Play him at lb and de, wherever the depth is needed. Hoping Carr will develop nicely to be able to start next year, the guy is massive
