How many true freshman QBs start in college?
Very few. Most coaches have never started one in their careers.
Usually when they do the player is head and shoulders above the competition on the team. We just don't have that.
This argument is a product of the impatient, instant everything, thumb twiddling, everything handed to them generation of our time.
haha yea maybe your right or maybe its the generation that doesn't accept loosing so easily and notices when a qb is terrible and a junior in high school could make some of those throws

Or maybe it's your generation that doesn't respect TN tradition and know what it means to support your team.
Or know how to wait 6 years for a guy like Johnny Majors to produce a consistent winner from the rubble he was handed.

Quarterbacks that are effected by what fans say always have and always will suck. I hope Simms couldn't care less what the fans say.

Didn't realize we were discussing facts.
Thought it was your opinion.

Oh, shut up.

That generational argument is terrible. Go to bed old man.

Since when did everyone become so thin-skinned? Why must everyone be babied? Why do we have to create this false sense of reality so that someone feels good about themselves?

Of course I think death threats are ridiculous, but to my knowledge, Simms hasn't had any death threats and I doubt he gets one. But this is taking it too far. If a guy does a mediocre job, and you show him acceptance of it, what do you think you are going to get? You're insane.

I'm also in the camp that says that fans have NOTHING to do with what happens on the field. I stood for 4 hours yesterday yelling and screaming for the Vols, and Simms STILL through that stupid pick in the end zone. What should I do now? There is a reason why they get paid scholarships to play the games, and we pay money to go to the games.

Quit being a baby and face the issues head on.

whats positive about matt simms?

for one thing, no one has threatened to kill him,,,,,a lot of people feel he will develop into a decent quarterback...not everyone refuses to give him a break considering the situation he is in....i guess its just fan nature to seek a scapegoat and attack it......

You're right, Jamal Lewis should have learned the blocking scheme before he saw the field.

why are people giving simms so much hell? We all know he is nowhere near being the best QB in the SEC. people fail to realize the other circumstances. We have a new offensive line that is not consistent on pass blocking. we have young receivers and a veteran out right now. He made a few mistakes and 2 bone head interceptions, but he is starting to show improvement, he threw for almost 300 yards against a da** good florida defense. he is learning a new offense under a 1st year coach. just please give the guy a break because there isnt anything better setting on the bench

It seems like the fans are to blame for a lot of UT's problems this year. At least that's what I gather from VN threads.

If I buy an extra hotdog this week at the stadium or maybe send a prayer request to one of those TV preacher's maybe that'll help UT's chances. Just like when Smokey Bear says, "Only you can prevent forest fires". You are responsible for UT's win this week. Don't let us down.
