Guys. I STILL have nothing against JG except the flaws in his game. I have argued with guys who are emotionally vested in him for whatever reasons. If he becomes a great QB then the crow might taste better for all of us if we stick with objective, fair criticisms... and not get personal about him. He appears to be a real good kid who has put his heart and soul into trying to be a good QB for UT. It appears he's done everything in his power to get better over the off season. It is simply my opinion that he has an innate, fatal flaw that prevents him from reading quickly or anticipating throws. He's still "thinking" when the ball needs to be on its way.

You need to sit down with Chaney and Pruitt and convince them how wrong they are.

Everyone wants a Joe Burrows year out of their QB....it ain't likely to happen so just maybe their playing who gives us our best chance to win. I trust their decision it has nothing to do with being emotionally vested.

Yeah... and you need to stop with stupid comments like this as if it invalidates an objective criticism. Chaney and Pruitt invested heavily in JG before last year and yanked him after the 3rd game due to poor performance. I am absolutely certain that nothing I've written is lost on either one of them.

I trust their choice too. Last year, they changed that choice to Maurer and spent most of the season looking for someone who gave the team a BETTER chance of winning. Even the last two games pointed to JG not being that guy. Hopefully he's improved. If not, hopefully there is someone better on the roster.

Your assumption of who they're playing... undermines you claim of not being vested.

I totally agree, great young man , hard worker, and really wants to perform well. He does not have or at least has consistently demonstrated he can use the offense and throw in rhythm. JG at QB most often is like watching a guy dance that can’t keep a beat.

Good obs, but game stats count ... we'll see

“Looks the Part” is about 1% of the battle.

In my reference, "looked the part" meant he seemed very sure of himself, as most seniors should. The talent is there, deny that if you will, but in the past he never seemed comfortable, even in practice. I didn't see that in this video. He had that look in his eye that I have only seen in "winners". I think he is going to surprise a lot of people this year.

I know this has probably been stated already but going to ask anyways..... why is there no comments from reporters? I will assume it is because of covid. I would think that 3-4 beat writers like Rucker could watch from a distance in a certain marked off area. That is why I come on these threads is to see what writers have to say about players progress or regress.

Well hell, I guess my Heisman vote will be for JG then.

I hope this is the year that JG turns it around. I really do. I hope he throws 30 TDs this year.

Have very little confidence it happens though.

I think the biggest question surrounding the QB discussion is who will get the first crack at it when they pull JG. Do they go with game experience and throw Maurer in there or just roll with Bailey? I think Maurer deserves another shot at some point, unless Bailey is just so much better. I'm just not sure the coaches will know that answer before the season starts.

Again, I'm ultimately putting my hope in Chaney on this and that a second year for JG with him as OC does the trick and that he starts and finishes the season. I really feel like solid play at QB gives a shot to really make some noise this year.

We finally have decent, quality depth on both lines. And we're good enough everywhere else to win a couple or so games we shouldn't.

weird question but how is there like 3-#4 3-#8.. I can see us doing with walk-ons but scholarship players?
If players have the same number, one has to play defense and the other offense. Can't have duplicate numbers on the same side of the ball as it confuses the opposing team.

Couldn't been JG, I don't think he can throw it that far!

JK :p
Gave you a like because I know you were joking. But we all know he has plenty of arm strength. He just falls short in anticipation and leading his receivers. Every qb has weaknesses so I’m not mad at him like most seem to be.
