Tennessee players invited to NFL combine

This reemphasizes the talent void on the team last fall. I think you will see the same issue concerning Vol seniors at the combine next year. Who can we reasonably expect out next season's senior class to be a legitimate NFL player?

The only savinggrace will be that we have enough talent and experience in the junior and sophomore classes to compete. If some of those juniors come out, it will add to the number of Vols next year.

Looks pretty close to what Tubberville left Auburn. If Gene Chizik can get to 8 wins his first and third years then DD should also.

Just killing time to enter the draft...didn't want to get hurt at McNeese State. Nothing to prove. I predict that he will be an early second rounder...if he can pass the drug tests.

He will be lucky to get drafted & it won't be the 2nd round if he does.

If you look at last year draft and this years including underclassmen Alabama is an factory right now.....they will send close to 20 players to the pro over the past 2 years.. That is close to1/4 of their 85...

We will start in 2013 and 2014 as our classes and talent will be on display for the draft.. GBO..

Boise had 7 kids invited to the combine and at least 2-3 of them will be first-day picks most likely (Doug Martin, George Iloka, Shea McClellin)...I dunno how to break this down, is it a pure talent disparity, or coaching? Doug Martin was only offered an FBS scholarship by one team coming out of HS, and that was Boise...

On another note, as a TTU alum, cool to see a Golden Eagle getting an invite in Tim Benford...

Because he dogged it at UT like Arian Foster his last year. :good!:
Good point. It's amazing how bad Foster played for us but he is one of the best backs in NFL. Amazing what money will do. But if he wouldn't have been so lazy and got drafted higher would would be getting more $$$

Poole?..........................I mean,....Poole?? Surisly?

Yes, Poole, you snide pickle. As he demonstrated in 2010 and again at the recent senior game, when there's a hole to run through he can run very well. I too was very disappointed with his production this past season but I also recognized when your OL can't shove side defenders, and your receivers can't or won't block the edges, you find the ground rather quickly. maybe instead of being snide you can learn to hope for the best of our boys who get a shot at the pros.

Foster was a good back, he just liked to drop it in critical situations.

More former Vols were invited. J. Jackson, Creer, and Coleman.

It's hard for me to consider Creer and Coleman Vols. I do wish JJ luck, just think he will have an uphill battle. Hopefully he has came to terms with battling his demons.

He wasn't coached up here like he should have been. Odd when some quality NFL coaches got a hold of him, the fumbling problem went away.

Exactly. There is no way in hell he gets drafted in the second round. He is most likely a 7th rounder or undrafted free agent.

imho he will be a second or third round pick. Janzen is an elite talent. He really just depends on whether he can test and live clean. Florida has a guy who went thru the exact same issue, Janorius Jenkins. He is a shutdown corner whi I think will be a mid-first round pick. Again, if he can test and live clean.

BS post

Arian wasn't lazy at UT. Far from it. He had a really good junior year and then got hurt while a senior, plus CPF didn't do him any favors with the scouts

I never viewed him as an elite talent. He would make a play here & there but that's it. He couldn't really tackle just always trying for a big hit. Coverage skills weren't very impressive either. He had potential but like a lot of guys he thinks he deserves more than he does & rules don't apply to him.
