ok obviously we lost by 39 points and everyone else will say that we got embarrased. But Tennessee did not play that bad.
Let's break the game apart shall we? I believe Tenn's LB's pressured Tebow a lot, Tebow(with some luck) was just able to get out of these situations. Recall, for example, the few times that Tebow was under pressure and had to scramble, then with no options, he just tossed the ball a couple of yards to a wide open tail back (obviously not a designed play). There were many other instances that i cannot remember specifically where Tebow was able to scramble away from the rush and get a few yards. What can we say? Tebow played better than we thought he would. It's hard for me to defend the Tenn's secondary though. When we needed a big play from them, they didn't execute, save for one instance (Berry's INT). I would say the secondary had a lot to do with out loss. Now you're probably going to bring up the 250+ rush yards by Florida. But Florida doesn't run a standard formation. It's too difficult to stop their playmakers (esp harvin) on reverses and options. They just have too much speed. I think the defense would've won the battle against any other offense (excluding teams in the top 10).
Recall that we had 2 FG's early on that we could not turn into TD's. I think this was the difference in the game. They scored Td's early on while we scored Td's. Its hard to come back as the visiting team in the swamp when you're down 28-6. We kicked short field goals too which shows us how far the offense drove the ball. Obviously the running game was a big disappointment, but the overall offensive scheme was not too bad.
We're not good enough to beat Florida this year, but I think we can beat a lot of teams. We have just played two very difficult opponents with simply too much speed for our defense. Overall, though, I think we played decent enough to beat a lot of teams.

... They kicked our dog and laughed at us while they did it. And then when we went to comfort our dog they slapped our wives ...
I have to tell you guys, I thought you all were done in, I believe it was your first series, when UT had the ball down on about the UF 10 or 15 yard line, and UT went for it on 4th down. UF jumped offsides, which gave you a first down, and then UT turned the ball over to us. When UT was going for it on 4th down before that turnover, I knew that Fulmer was making a bad decision - I felt that UT should have gone for the 3 points, not the first down. Coming away with 3 points was pretty much a sure thing, plus it would have kept your momentum going and deflated the crowd. As it turned out, UT lost the ball AND came away with NO points. That was a serious coaching error, IMHO - the momentum was then lost to the Gators, and had to be a let down felt by all on the UT sideline. Truly, a morale killer for the Vols. Most games turn on 1 or 2 plays, and in this case the game began to turn against UT almost at the start. The first 2 times that UF had the ball, we did nothing, and I think that was the UF coaches/Meyer who called some really bad plays. UT failed to capitalize on the poor play calling early, as on UF's 3rd series, you could see a drastic change in our play calling, as Tebow was allowed to start opening up the offense.
Anyway, not taking that FG, changed the whole momentum of the game, and UT could never get it together after that. UT would not have won by just kicking FG's, but I have to say not going for the 3 points was a really bad call.
I don't. I see the possibility of 6/7 wins. The only book it win I see is La-Lafayette. Before the season I predicted loses to Carolina and Bama. Georgia, Arky, and UK are also strong possibilities for losses. If we lose all of those we are 5-7, and don't count out the possibility that Fulmer gets Croomed. Also don't forget that Arky State gave Texas all they could handle, and we are no Texas. You want to bet? I see 6 w's on the schedule, thanks to a 12 game season. Shreveport here we come!
