Man i just wanna kick ya. I wont say that we have no chance, i like to think no matter what everyone always has atleast 25% chance of winning in any sport.

I am excited about our coach and our team, I just think too many people are being unrealistic about this year.

I agree. Getting to the NIT will be a great year for Pearl. Buzz left the cubboard bare.

On a side note, I noticed Texas only won by 1 over unranked West Virginia earlier this year. So maybe UT can keep this game close. :cross:

Both those teams are good teams, you obviously dont know college basketball. Northern Iowa started the season ranked 27th getting top 25 votes, it wasnt a major upset at all, just cause there a small name doesnt mean there not a great team. Indiana State while isnt a very good team was still a pretty solid team, and Indiana is not a good team at all. They missed the NIT last year.

I'm also really excited about the future. However we dont have the players to hang with Texas this year, if they keep it under 10 I'll be shocked.

Texas has big, talented inside players that we can't match up with, and great ball handlers to negate our pressure.  We've only played one game on the road and it wasn't too impressive.  We would have to play the game of the season, combined with Texas mailing it in, to win this one.

I'm guessing I'll be the only member of the VN in attendence?

I agree, we'll have to pull off a miracle here to get a win. However, size-wise, they really don't have much of an edge. In terms of height, we actually match up perfectly even on paper. (Giving up only 1 inch at F, getting it back at G). They do seem a little "bigger," though.

I'm excited about this team, but let's not all get too overwhelmed. We'll be really good in a couple of years, but for now, let's just enjoy "fun" basketball and hope for a few upsets along the way.

Oh, V4L, you gonna be here for the game on the 27th?

Oh, and for the record, 29.17% of the members of VolNation are officially on crack.

I think Texas is the best team in the Nation, and will beat duke this weekend.

Id say Texas by 8, put our Women's team out there and we win by 20  .

I've learned you always set the bar high.

Setting the bar high is fine. It's the people who act like they're high when they set the bar that are the problem.

I don't think we are gonna win by any stretch of the alleged mind.....but to say we have no chance at all is absurd. In BBALL, if u catch a team that is having a cold day shooting and you get just one guy hot......you can do some serious damage.

:D I would love to see us win but we are a year or two away from beating teams like this away from home. Give them time and under Pearl they will play with anyone.

But WVU has many players back from the team that took Louisville to the wire in the Elite 8 including the best name in BBall -

Pittsnogle... as in you've just been Pittsnogled! Look at his picture - not hard to believe he's from West Virginia!

Him and that Gansey guy could keep WVU in the game with any team.

As (apparently) the only Longhorn on this board, I do think that TN will give TX a better game than many - outside of this board - do. I'm going with TX by 14. The depth is killer. Upsets could happen, though. This TX team is far superior to the one that handled TN last year - and that was on a neutral court. I also know that TN has also improved. I guess we'll see what happens.

Another poster had it right by stating that there will not be much of a home-field advantage. TX has been notorious for its lack of a true basketball home-field advantage. However, it has been improving over the last few years. Amazing what winning will do.

And as for this...

Id say Texas by 8, put our Women's team out there and we win by 20 -- I hope this poster is kidding. The TN women wouldn't stay within 100 points of the TX men. The TN women wouldn't even stay within 80 points of the TN men.
