As the old song goes..."We've only just begun"...

You can bet that CJP and our current coaches already have a plan in place and know exactly which kids they want to go after really hard just as soon as it's legal to start recruiting again.

Now they've had time to talk to our current players and new recruits, study film on all of them and know exactly which positions they need to recruit really hard to fill spots.

The very minute it's legal to start recruiting again our plan will go full tilt boogie with all our coaches and CJP hot on the trail after the best players we can get to fill positions of most serious needs.

I have a feeling that come NSD in Feb. we're going to get some good surprises and be very happy with this class...especially since it had to be done on such a very short timeline.

I expect to be a happy man on NSD.

VFL...GBO!!!

The biggest thing I see so far is who he is recruiting. We have been weak on the corners since Butch's tenure began. Pruitt sees that weakness and is going all out on several explosive DBs. Butch seemed to settle for prospects he could get, Pruitt does not need to settle nor will he. We actually have SEC experience coaching the VOLs now, he knows what it takes to win in this league, and its already showing.

I don’t think we’re gonna have to listen to any of the BS Jones was spewing from JP. Crap like, “I’m not building a team here, I’m building a program”. That’s a distinction without a difference and no matter how many times I’ve asked posters on VN to explain the difference, how a coach would do anything differently, no one has given anything close to a legit answer.

Fact is, you’re right Poppa, get on with it starting right now. Go get the players who can fit and execute your system at the highest possible level and start winning as soon as humanly possible. The days of the Bull-ish statements like “it takes 6-7 years to build a program” are gone. Plenty of us saw it for what it was then...it’s crap, nothing but excuses in order to buy more time, trick as many people as possible, collect more paychecks.

The model/standard has been set by JP’s very soon to be former boss.....took a season to get things implemented, went 7-6....year 2 had things in place and roster built up, went 12-2.....year 3 went 14-0 and won the national title. Not saying we should expect a national title in 3 years, just that that is the standard JP will be aiming for. No more crap about how many players have never been on a plane or who have ever played a game in Gainesville. We got a football coach in charge now, not an insecure trumpet player trying to extend the con as long as possible before the gets found out.

It is yet to be determined how good Pruitt will be but the constant dumbing down of expectations and public perception of being satisfied with mediocrity and rehearsed cliches are probably over.

We were sitting in the 60s not long ago. Granted, we knew we'd finish in the Top 30, but Top 15-20 is going to be sweet.

Program recruits itself.
