There are three types of points that figure into the "N" value in the rivals scoring formula.

1) Ranking points (based on being either ranked in the top 50 JUCOs or Top 100 HS players)
2) Position points (for HS Players only)
3) Bonus Points (Average Star value for top 20 on your list minus 3, then multiply X 100. For ex. (3.37 - 3)*100 = 0.37 * 100 = 37 Bonus Points).

Position rankings are 24 points for the #1 player at that position, 18 points for #2 - 5, and 8 points for anything below that until the position threshold is reached. For TE the threshold is 20, meaning only the top 20 TEs get any position points. JM is #13 so he gets 8. (There are different thresholds for different positions. For ex. where only the top 20 TEs get position points, in contrast position points are awarded to 50 WRs.)

He is not ranked in the top 100 so no ranking points but our bonus points increase by 3 due to his boosting our average star value.

None of these points are directly additive to our score. They have to be plugged into the formula to get the rivals value.

If JM was added to our current commits right now with no other changes we would have a score of 1547.979 or 1548 as scored by the rivals formula.

Good stuff, thanks for the breakdown :hi:

Wanna venture a guess at who called plays that year? Not Chaney.

*Disclaimer: I am a Chaney supporter.

Calling plays with Hardesty and Crompton is a bit easier than with Worley and Poole.

*Disclaimer: I do agree our running game needs vast amounts of work, but I believe we came into the season knowing we had to sling it around to win. Then two of the best players in the SEC went down and we were S.O.L.

Just pointing out to the poster I quoted that Chaney didn't call plays that first year. Also, people are pretty quick to forget how bad Crompton was.. But whatever.

Calling plays is only a fraction of the duty assigned to an OC. It was Cheney's offense and schemes that Kiffin was calling plays with.

Meredith is a 4star, 5.8, which = 110pts. So if he committed today we'd have 1523 pts and be tied with Clemson in 8th place.

We'd have 1548 if he committed...8th place all by ourself...

And just for fun...we's have 1672 if we land Autry after that...good enough for 6th place

Dude it is Nov. Our commitments will change. for the better i hope.:lolabove:

Yes, and other teams will change, as well.

But the fact is we have a real shot at a top 10 class. There are teams we just plain won't catch. But it'll be a goooooood haul.

it won't matter if these assistants (chaney, joseph and double h) are retained. they can't coach them up. keeping these guys would be like getting a brand new car and never detailing it to keep it nice and clean, inside and out. sorry, i like cdd, but these guys are a joke !!!

I just wish they'd take the car out on the weekends...

Are you sure? We have only lost what, two commitments between this season and last? Dooley has done a great job of keeping em when we get em.
