Tennessee Now Playing With House Money

Wow! This is something I hadn't thought of - seriously. Ohio State's defensive play as of late has been amazing because Matta sits Oden in the paint and plays a zone. What does zone allow for? More open look 3s? What does Tennessee do well, 6 players deep? Shoot 3s. If we're having an above average night from the perimeter, we might have a legit shot here.

Good post, man.
Yeah, but it's a one man zone that allows the other 4 to really spread out, hence protecting against the 3. That's why Oden's so valuable, he allows them to spread a zone amazingly wide or overplay in the man.

Exactly. They don't have to pack five guys inside the arc to protect the paint. One guy does that for them.

When they do that it is then time to "drive, spin and knife" into the paint with a bucket + 1 and a foul on Oden. Knock down a 3 the old fashion way and then D up.

I would lay even money that UT attempts no fewer than 30 three pointers against tOSU. Childress and Chism will jack up at least 3 apiece; possibly even Howell.

The question, of course, is how many do we make?
