Petro's Chili, Brown Squirrel Furniture, The Sunsphere, Calhoun's, Tennessee Farm Bureau.....

Unfortunately, this is how it should work, and probably will work at most schools. We don't play most schools, we will play Alabama, Georgia, Texas, etc. and their NIL sponsors - who are anonymous, anonymous, and anonymous.
We don't really have a chance vs. their limitless NIL money - so we will have to work the high 3 stars, low 4 stars.

Once we develop a few into top notch talent - they then will receive big money NIL deals to transfer to schools like Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Texas A and M. Seems like a flawed system to me.

Oh, it will happen in basketball also.

That pretty much depends on A) businesses with UT connections and B) fan willingness to support businesses with UT NIL's. There are a lot of businesses that can and maybe even should do it. Doesn't Benji Shuler own a Real Estate company in East TN? How many dozens are there like him across the state? Pilot Flying J?

Even someone who owned a small chain of restaurants or franchises could get involved.

Not sure why you think this is such a hopeless situation. It just takes commitment from businesses IMO. Fan support has never really wavered.

In a perfect ORANGE world, Jack Daniel's would be on that list.
He's bad. He's Nationwide.*

*Tip o' the hat to ZZ Top
Jack and George should come to the hill
with 5 stars by the basket
But Jack's a Cat, George is a Brit
and UT may as well be in a casket.

(Jack is Brown-Forman, based in KY.
George is Diageo and British)

Top players that go to teams like Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson who usually go to the playoffs will get the big NIL deals since they will have better name recognition and maybe sign for a nationwide ad. Example would be the current QB from Clemson that signed with Dr Pepper. Saw his ad when Clemson played Georgia on TV at the beginning of the season
A player that has name recognition like a heisman winner will get a big NIL. If you go to a large market area like Southern Cal or Texas, etc. you might get a major deal.
I don’t see a relatively unknown player signing a 100,000 dollar deal with Joe’s used cars.

To get a look at the power of NIL in a completely unregulated environment look no further than the incoming A & M recruiting class, which should grade out higher than most in the SEC, Jimbo is a good coach, but he's not been close to the playoff since he's been at Aggie Land, but a school with oil wells on campus and plenty of well healed boosters and sponsors, their local and regional NIL sponsor pool is in a different strata than what you would find at most schools eligible for a six pack bowl bid in the SEC.

The X-factor will be how businesses react to a situation like Spencer Rattler.

The situation would have worked out for Dr. Pepper, but not so much for the Dodge dealership in OKC.

NIL money is the game changer, the only way TN ever sniffs relevancy again, is for local and Tennessee based companies to pony up some "serious" NIL deals for players. GA players are signing major deals with Trading Card companies, Tom Brady Apparel, Zaxbys, Atlanta Braves etc.

NIL has no regional boundaries or school allegiance. There is nothing to keep players who are marketable from signing deals with Pepsi, Ford, Pfizer, Chevron, Nike, Adidas…

Are there any current players with deals with companies having national or regional exposure?

I keep thinking it will take a very special ‘kid’ (rare) for a large corp to hang its reputation on. Character will be equally as important as talent.

But owned internationally. Example of their (international ownership) "support": Years before Anheuser-Busch "sold out" there were great holiday season commercials new every year(usually featuring the Clydesdales). First year or so after the sale they ran an old commercial. When have you seen a Bud commercial with a holiday theme? Been a few years for me. No don't expect JD money.

I have not researched the NIL "rules" but is there anything to stop a school's boosters from forming a non-profit that relies upon donations and then pays players to advertise the non-profit? This would allow tom, dick and harry to donate to the non-profit creating what would essentially be a big orange slush fund.

I keep thinking large corporations do not stay large pissing money away.
Rich jock sniffing white men that want program access and bragging rights will continue to supply the cash to buy recruits and pay players. Nothing has changed. Call it NIL if it makes you feel more pure however, Nothing has changed.
Local businesses do not have anywhere close to the level of money in their advertising budget to buy and support a single topflight player.
Large corporations target demographics much larger than the fan boys of one school with their advertising. Sure, there are regional deals, but still not enough to support a player.
How much did TAM boosters pay for just their DL class this year?
Has to be in the 8 figure range.
I LOL at any who think a local BBQ joint or a major corporation will throw that kind of coin to a teenage boy.
