Tennessee & Nico Iamaleava are in active contract negotiations ahead of the 2025 season

What scares me is who else may leave if Nico does. Hopefully nothing but could this start a chain reaction? I have no idea but it's concerning

Did I just hear we have 2 million to give to offensive lineman and skill positions?

So let's say he goes to another school and has a Heisman season. He very well could, and we very well could win six or seven games and end up in the No-Name Bowl. I can hear the fan base now -- "We should have paid him."

This is what a free market looks like. He has a desirable skill set. If he can make more money than he's currently making, he should. I love my job. But if someone comes along and offers me double my salary, I'm doing what's right for me and my family. Why do we expect these athletes to settle for less than current market value when most of us wouldn't in our own lives?
It wouldnt surprise me if he did pop off where ever he goes. He is a generational talent. He is just getting bad Advice.

“Skipping practice is a clear hold-out move. From what I've heard over the past couple of hours it hasn't done him any favors with a lot of folks on campus from players to administration. It also is sounding increasingly like Tennessee isn't going to budge.”
Yes it is. No way to spin it. Heup has been backed into a corner.

Is Heup like a rat?

I am afraid of this too. This is why I lowkey think Nico's camp will win. If he has enough people like Mathews threatening to follow, then all of a sudden its a huge payday for showing up to spring. The alternative is a massive fire sale of former Vols and we officially tank this season and save our money for next.

It very well could happen. What a mess

I'm still trying to figure out why other players would follow Nico if he leaves.

Its not like he's an elite QB. He's a step above average on a good day

He’s saying that Tennessee is “nuking” Nico’s public perception by releasing behind closed doors contract negotiation details. Will says that’s not fair to Nico, I say tough ****, leak it. So I disagree with him. How is it fair for the player to hold all of the cards and tarnish the perception of the university in public but the university isn’t allowed to do the same to defend itself? Tennessee has done nothing wrong here.
These guys want big boy money to play big boy ball, without any of the risks. I agree. Tough sh*t. If you want to be a college ballplayer that makes millions, you get all that comes with it. I don't care if you're 18 years old.

Lets spin this in a different direction: since Nico is more than likely gone, do we think we roll with Merk or will we try to snipe another QB from somewhere? Who could we possibly drop a bag to get to come here?
