Tennessee & Nico Iamaleava are in active contract negotiations ahead of the 2025 season

I don’t know who leaked this, but I am guessing this is a lot to do about nothing. It would be incredibly stupid by him to go to another team and then think he will have a good enough year to put him in the NFL. If he wanted to leave he should have left in the fall wheee he could have learned a new offense and worked on routes, etc…just seems a little weird on the timing.

I will say this, Sprye's attorneys suck. Get them a 4-year agreement that is basically a "non-compete" agreement and make them pay penalties if they breach it.

Heck, my employer does this. You leave, you can't work for competition for x years and you have to pay back bonus, etc.

The lawyers just suck for the NIL setup.
Possibly some good news for you Volbound1700,

FTC Announces Rule Banning Noncompetes

FTC’s final rule will generate over 8,500 new businesses each year, raise worker wages, lower health care costs, and boost innovation

I don't need to google crap...already have access to stats. Here you go you may learn something. Look at the SEC conference it is REALLY the ONLY stats that matter

All games

Or you could just Google SEC QBR ratings. No ones lying to you. You’re getting upset about raw mathematics. He had a replacement level season last year. I wish he had played better. I’m bringing you a tangible statistic to back it up. I didn’t even bring up intangible points like the fact that the kid is apparently a non factor in the locker room because I can’t prove that. I didn’t make the weather. I’m just reporting it. Hope that helps you on your journey.

This is a result of a broken system. There should be one transfer window in NIL. Also it is what they choose to report, I guarantee every player with bargaining power negotiates every time the window opens

Was the rest of the league RS Freshmen too?
Was that the discussion at hand? The other poster claimed others could have done what Nico did statistically. The statistics back that up. No mention was made of his age. If you want to have a SEPARATE discussion about that…then I would say you don’t get to be paid like a Heisman winner, have a mediocre season and then have excuses made for your age.

My predictions are that, because Heupel disagrees with your assessment of Nico's capabilities, 1) UT and Nico will reach an agreement 2) Nico will perform well this year 3) You will not want your post reexamined at the end of the year.
If he does perform well, he will sell out to the highest bidder. Let him go. He was way over paid this past year

Based off statistics. He was in the bottom half of the league in QBR and did most of his damage against weak comp. In MLB terms he was basically a replacement level player.
I’m not pleased this crap has come up again considering we went thru it in January but Nico did bring TN down the field 3 times to take the lead vs Alabama last year, twice in the 4th qtr. His issue to me is I can’t point to a game last year where he was consistently good the entire game vs an SEC team. He can be good at moments & suck later or vice versa. He was horrible vs Fla (Napier said at halftime “we gonna make the QB beat us”) and Vols won despite him actually.

I’m sure this will work out & he’ll play his last year here next season. I don’t think him coming back in ‘26 in his family plans nor is it in Tennessee’s.

I am getting closer and closer to no longer caring about Tennessee/college football. Let him walk. He obviously ain't focused on football. Still not 100% sure he's all that great anyway.
Agree. I have season tix but thinking about unloading. I spend a boat load on tickets, travel, food, and time. Not to mention, I drive to and from Nashville every Saturday.

My heart hasn’t been into it since the Ohio state loss. Maybe I was in basketball mode or accepted the fact we are still far away from a natty.

But this 💩 is frustrating as the name in the front of the jersey is meaningless. When did $8 million become a bad deal for a 18-22 yr old?

Travis Hunter got an estimated $5M+ last year.

I’m indifferent on this. I guess I hope he stays. On the other hand our offense was held to 7 or less points for entire halves most games last season. Shutout for entire halves several times.

How ever it plays out will be fine with me.
