Tennessee & Nico Iamaleava are in active contract negotiations ahead of the 2025 season

Some of yall are morons. Let him walk and tank our season? Lmao. I get it. No one likes it, but welcome to college sports in 2025. Adapt or get left behind.
I’m of the opinion the guy sucks and won’t tank the season much worse, if at all, than the season would be tanked by playing him. We go 10-2 with at least 50 different QBs across college football last year.

If you think Nico sucks, you need to give up the sport. Nico was extremely good to have the season he had last year despite horrendous oline play at times and mediocre WR play.

My thoughts? Not that anyone cares or asked.

But if this is really a second time wanting to get more money, then let him go. We cannot continue to be held hostage like this by players.

The grass is not always greener (for both sides), but man, I’m beginning to prefer the NFL. At least there is a contract and certain amount of time a player is there.

We have zero consistency in CFB now. And this will kill the sport pretty quickly. Fans will tire of the merry-go-round, HS recruiting will slow down and the portal will be what controls the roster.

If this is not about more money, then great. Sorry about the rant.

Ohio State just won the national championship with the highest payroll in the nation, and many want our best qb to leave because they think that salary negotiations are not part of the landscape now? Maybe leaving the decision making advice to the professionals would result in a happier viewing experience.

Lol if you think the guy who ran out of bounds to lose a game, went a whole month without scoring a single first half point, and led the 11th best passing offense in SEC play was “extremely good,” then you are out of your mind. There is no world where that guy was “extremely good.” He was the weakest part of the team, and he had more to do with the struggles of the O Line and receivers than vice versa.

They didn’t win the national championship because they acquiesced to multiple pay raises for mediocre at best players who were already highly overpaid to begin with. They won a national championship because they weren’t wasting money on Nico Iamaleava types and paid dudes who actually were worth it.

Didn't we go to court to defend what we did to get him the NIL money he already has been contracted for? This seems just disrespectful.
Yes, we did. So...it appears we got what we asked and fought for...no loyalty, but just strike for more money when your leverage is at its best. We got exactly what we fought for.

There is a major court case going on that’s about to limit what players can make. My guess is Nico wants to renegotiate to get all his money up front now and not paid out over the next 2-3 years

So basically you think we should cave to any player demands? lol. If Nico were a Joe Burrow or one of the best QBs in the nation? Maybe. The dude is slightly above average. South Carolina’s QB is ranked ahead of Nico going into this year. Give me a break. He has done zero to deserve another raise. We could survive Nico leaving. You act like he is some kind of stud that can’t be replaced.

Sorry but the employees don’t run the business.

IF he has the year he is PAID FOR, THIS year...there will BE no more "2-3 Years"...

You don't think Nico would take advantage now would he?

"The question, though, is whether he will be taking that step for Tennessee or a different team.

And the answer to that question will determine the Volunteers' ceiling considering they are also losing running back Dylan Sampson, defensive end James Pearce Jr., and wide receivers Bru McCoy and Dont'e Thornton Jr. from last season's team in addition to the portal losses.

Given that roster reality, Iamaleava has plenty of leverage in any contract negotiations with a football program that will surely need him to remain among the best teams in the SEC."

You gotta keep him just because of the system experience, but we could also go and steal someone who is just as proven as Nico at this point with his same deal.

If negotiations break down and he enters the portal, Tennessee should consider assessing him on the way out for all the FREE coaching and development he received since arriving here. Why stop there though….room and board, meals, travel for himself and family as well as repayment of a percentage of any other past inducements for which it is deemed he has not accrued any equity based on performance. All this said, yea, he’ll probably be back when it’s all said and done. I hope so anyway
I can't read the article. I assume it's him asking for more, and not us telling him he's not worth $2M?

What's the going rate for an "elite" QB right now?
he has the highest of high ceilings but not ready to call him elite. Sampson carried the team last year almost by himself. If Nico had then you go ahead and hand him a blank check
