People may disagree with me, but I believe this is a pivotal moment for our program.

We are already expected to win. If we lose somehow, then we need to new coach.

If we win like expected, we should win BIG. And this is my reason why.

Last couple of games, we have been close to winning...except, more than once we can't get our offensive game going and our OC makes some bonehead decisions.

UTC is the best time to experiment with our play call while boosting our overall morale with our offense.

A win is a win, but putting up less than 40 pts is a failure against UTC. IF you look at it like this, it's only 1 Touchdown and 1 field goal per quarter. With our defense as strong as we are going, we should be able to get our team out there 3 times per quarter.

If we struggle to get these points, I think we need to fix our problems with our OC somehow and FAST. You can't blame players/talent when we play UTC.

What if UT plans to break in a freshman running back that has never taken a snap and is coming off an injury? Or trying out a DB at running back because we need his speed? Or a walk on O lineman with a torn ACL? My point is that this is a week to try and figure some things out about our football team, not to blow up the scoreboard.

Why can't we get that score while doing all those things you said?

Oh we might. I would be ecstatic but I just don't think the team has that mindset. They are thinking about getting better. Just my opinion, of course.

Scoring points is getting better. No harm in trying different plays, and I expect that. I actually expect to see Peterman out there by the 4th.

This is GO time though. We can't do too much "experimenting". If those plays don't help us get in the endzone, we better not ever see them again for awhile.

This is what I hope.
Get those inexperienced players some live game time so they will be ready when called up. Test drive some to see what they can do.

I disagree. Scoring points against a bad team doesn't automatically make us better. We may run a lot of plays that failed miserably at so far, just to work on blocking or routes or timing. We will win easily but there might be some ugliness in this game because of things we don't do well getting attention.

give me an injury free, penalty free comfortable win...I think I'm more interested in time of possession as a measuring stick than total points.

I think that was the point (pun intended).
See, it isn't about scoring (insert your number here) points. Sure we need the win but the world is full of wonderful and unusual things to be experienced grasshopper and we don't have that much experience in those things...yet. :)

GO VOLS!

What is winning easily to you? 1 point? Mine is 40 pts.

I would be one of the poeple you mentioned in your first sentence...

^ Hopefully kidding. A statement game is beating the likes of Georgia or Florida. Not the mighty Mocs of UTC.

Them Mocs of UTC been trash talkin all year! They think they gonna come into Neyland and whip our ass! They don't respect our tradition, they don't respect Smokey! Well we gonna show them inbreds what REAL UT KNOXVILLE football is all about.
