Ken Pomeroy is to basketball ratings as Nate Silver is to polling. His ratings are based on statistical analysis indicated by the different numbers in the columns. This is not a bunch of coaches or writers voting or a committee selecting. It is based on hard data produced during the basketball season. Nate Silver has us with a 81% probability of advancing to the Sweet 16 and a 42% chance of advancing to the Elite 8 as of today. It changes as the data changes. It would appear to me that the two of them are very much in alignment!

Good stuff. I've got 8 years left until retirement
My military retirement combined with my civilian retirement and social security is what allowed me to retire 3 years ago at 62. Couldn't have done it without the military part especially the health care!

Syracuse did not look good in the last part of the year. Went the wrong way after the strong start. Saw that michigan made 14 of 28 threes today in their win.

Great to see the VOLS getting some love and respect. They've earned a top 10 due to their play late in the season and the crazy D they bring every game. Aside from a bumpy start, the VOLS..could..go..all..the..way.

It continues to amaze me the lack of respect Wichita State gets (#4?). I get the MVC is weak and they are a mid-major program; however, their performance in last seasons tournament and their body of work this season should bump them to a #1 or #2.

Is this suggesting that he thinks our chances of beating Michigan (if we make it there) are slightly more than 50%?

I'm glad the statistics show what we as fans thought this team should be all season. That being said if we beat mercer and Michigan ( hopefully) we still have to face a very highly regarded Louisville or Wichita State. This Midwest region is loaded.

Sounds crazy, but this team reminds me in some ways of that Arkansas team that went to the finals back to back. Corless Williamson inside and that McCrae type wing. We are peaking at exactly the right time and not a moment too soon. We are finally playing like everyone expect in the reg season. It's not out of the realm of possibility.
