I know we are in preseason hype. I do not want to jump the gun. But this team is possiblity the Best we have ever had at UT. Pearl is or will be a legend. This team has balance and will be hard to defend. Matching up against the Vols this season will be a very very difficult task for opposing Coaches. Just when they think they have it figured out. Watch out for the bench. We are deep on the bench with a lot of alternatives.
If we have a weakness it maybe at point but we have alternatives in case something happens To R Smith.

I know anything can happen but anything less than a 27 game season and I think a final 4 appearance is very achievable. See us easily winning the SEC Championship. Anything can happen in the NCAA Tourney so the jury is still out.

Am I missing something.......................or stating the obvious that people are afraid to go out on a limb and say......????????

This is a team that struggled to win on the road last year. They should start with that goal.

Very true, but it's hard for a young team to win on the road. We didn't have Lofton at Kentucky, or Florida.

We did struggle last year. But that is expected anywhere in the SEC. I see the youth of last year really picking up a lot of slack in that area been there done that and the additions of tyler smith he is a junior. We have enough coverage with leaders on the court.

Or free throw shooting.

Unless exhibition game FTs are different. This is an area that needed to be fixed and appears to have been.

Wish the Football team could follow suit and Identify the problems and fix them................

Personally, I think this is all jumping the gun. We haven't even played a regular season game yet. I'm not going to forget the number of times our football teams have had similar hype.

It's a long season...injuries happen, potential for chemistry problems, complacency issues...let's take it one segment of the season at a time before we jump ahead of ourselves.

All that you say is true. This is basketball not football refering to the posts above. I do not want to jump the gun but was a topic of discussion and has been for awhile now. Since last season plus the addition of Tyler Smith. 31 games plus the SEC tourney Plus the NCAA 26 or 27 wins is not absurd. Winning the SEC is the Writers/Coaches Predictions. #7 in the country ranking I guess this also jumping the Gun.

the Season Starts Friday Versus Temple. Two Exhibitions games do not Count. But looking at what We are putting on the Court right now is awesome.

Segment out the season as you may feel, be it with Adversity injuries and bad calls or better yet Chemistry Issues. Right Now it is what it is. in Feb March or April it will be what it was or will be. One thing we know is that Pearl will put a good team on the floor they will be there to play for 40 minutes, he will adjust accordingly and there will be improvement. Starting out is awesome barring all the negatives above they should be downright great at the end of the season.

Pearl will fix Chemistry ISSUES he runs a tight ship and does not put up with crap such as chemistry problems, complacency issues

Says the guy who said UT would go 13-0 in football last year. I think that the basketball team will be fine on the road.

We had a pretty good football team in 05 and we all remember how that turned out.

Bottom line - Take one game at a time and lets talk about how great we were in the Post Tournament press conference holding up the National Champ Trophy.

GO Vols!

ours will be a very good basketball team. I don't think we're underrating them. Many have said final 4 is a distinct and strong possibility. Unfortunately, the tourney becomes a crap shoot in the later rounds because of the single elim. format.

We will go far, but ours is not a team built upon consistent game elements and that doesn't bode well for 6 game streaks against top teams.

It looked fixed on Friday... Seems something was just off last night. I want to see how they do with FT's against two Div-I opponents and then decide where they are.

Reason????? Still 15 ft away. We did drop off last night in FT.

The team, as a whole, didn't look like they were concentrating as much last night as they did during the first exhibition game. I know we won by more, but the play was much more sloppy.

I want to see them in a real game, that has their full concentration.

too many factors to consider the NCAA. Seeding and Brackets plus the Cinderalla Factor is always there. There are intangibles based on above to even think about the NCAA Tourney. Right Now I think they are in the top 5 of the country. Usually means as we have seen in the past you should be there but chances are that you will not. More than 2 no 1 seeds are the norm for the final 4.

We know one thing we are in the sec. 8 Road Games 8 Home and the Tourney. We are the best in the SEC and I think we will win it. NCAA is another Story. Memphis will be a great Measuring Stick for this team.

Paper wise and Talent wise Yes. Coaching Play Calling No Change.

Pearl will have them Ready. In two seasons he has never Failed to have the team ready for the big or critical games.

Imo, we will be as much a measuring stick for Memphis as they will be for us.
