Tennessee Lady Vol News

No thanks. Unfortunate Izzy is tied up with someone unintelligent and divisive. Won’t last.
I am sure you have so much more Knowledge about Cloud than Izzy given she has only been with her for four years. mThe beautiful glow in her face suggests that we all should be with someone so "unintelligent and divisive".

Wow, almost sounds like Mia has locked down starting PG already.

Very refreshing conversation with our coach. She just says stuff.
Yup. If Mia hasn't yet locked down the starting PG position, she is very close to it. Mia just might be that special PG to lead the LVs back to the FF. GBO.

Like if Mia is handling pressure defense going against Cooper and Civil in practice and maintaining a high A/TO, how special is this young lady? I think back to graduating HS and if I went to my first UT practice and coach says to bring the ball up against ZZ or Mashack. I would just be trying to survive. Mia doesn't sound like she's surviving, she's thriving.

I. Am. Impressed.

Coach seems so open and natural in this clip, and more relaxed than last year. She has a rare blend of so many good qualities that I think she is a remarkable human being and coach. So glad she is on our team!
I’m not saying you were one of them but this was totally opposite for the masses when she first got hired but thank goodness she has won everyone over

Not for a fellow West Virginian. I’m not surprised. I think she’s been that way for years. Danny saw it right away. Of course knowledgeable. Grew up in basketball. Her daddy was a great teacher and coach.

Really getting excited for this season. I expect there to be some more growing pains, especially with the addition of all the freshman. Feel like it might be a little ugly until December but will start clicking as we approach conference play.

I said this last season, but this is the most excited I’ve been in a long time about the talent we have on the floor. We truly have speed, size and athleticism that we just haven’t had in over a decade.

Our last team with this many true athletes was probably the Elite Eight team from 2016. That core group of Deshields, Cooper, Carter, Nared, Russell, Reynolds, and Graves had some real talent. They did not play well together though and that showed in the offseason drama after that year.

Biggest concern? Shooting, I agree with what coach has said a couple times. Doesn’t seem like we have those true knockdown shooters. That’s a real opportunity for someone to step up and fill a role.

Dark horse? Wolfenbarger. I really feel like she can play well in this system. If she gets her three ball dialed in and continues to play with toughness like she did at LSU she will be the perfect compliment to Spearman at the 5.

Biggest question marks? Hurst and Robertson. I’m really curious to see what, if any role they play this season. Both have a lot of potential to me but I’m not envisioning how it fits in this system.

I have been watching coach interviews for more decades than I care to admit as a supporter in their AARP era, but I can honestly say that Coach Kim Caldwell is the absolute best overall women's college basketball interviewee I've ever seen. She's honest, forthright, self-deprecating when necessary, sometimes sharply direct, and sometimes mildly funny... but never condescending or arrogant. She owns her, and her players', mistakes and shortcomings. She recognizes her own, and her players', strengths and weaknesses. She understands her job and takes full responsibility for her team and how they perform both on and off the court.

Editing to say that she does all this while managing to deliver consistently candid, sincere and refreshingly non-performative answers to questions.

I think her handling of the Whitehorn situation has been perfect. Today when she briefly discussed it she did NOT minimize the effect of Ruby's regrettably overly forceful reactions to a situation that really never should have reached that level. A severe lack of emotional maturity is apparent in both parties, so I hope both of them end up being better, more mature, women after this.

Like I totally expected Mia Pauldo has moved to the very top of the point guard list and as I expected she will play the most minutes at that position. She is a coach on the floor he father taught her well she knows how to run an offense where to go with the ball. I am excited to see her in action.
To add I believe she is a talent equal to Hildago their high school careers were almost identical in production in every statistic.

If she turns out to be half the player this year that Hildago was her frosh yr......we in great shape!

I appreciate Cora's practice observations. Nice to hear Barker is doing well - I remember some saying that she was recovering from something earlier this summer and it would take some time for her to adjust and get in shape.

And nice to hear Prawl doesn't look like a freshman. I'm not surprised - she wasn't the flashiest in the McDonald's AA game but I thought she was very smooth and composed.

Were there any other observations? I couldn’t read this article. 🥲
