I really wished Rickea had a chance to play for Kim
Same for Rae Burrell as well. Rae was athletic as hell and had a motor that didn't stop. Did everything that Kim Likes. Shot the three, went to the glass, scored in the paint, and never stopped running. Too bad that knee injury got her during her senior year.

Personally, I really don't expect us to hit a higher percentage of 3s than last year's team. Those were some good shooters we had!

I'm putting my 2025-26 hopes on this team creating more steals and defensive turnovers, resulting in a greater point shot differential than last year's team.

And I'd sure like to see us get to the line more often ...though I'm not sure how much we control that.

edit: see above
I think we'd be better suited to go inside and mid range more with the players we have now. The talent is there however to be better from the three than last season. It is all young players so that is the question mark.

My hope is that the extra quickness will result in more open, less hurried, shots -- and hopefully at least as many makes. Yeah, we had our share of terrible shooting games last season, but overall were pretty darn good. And that was (except for Samara) with some not-very-quick players putting up those threes.

Another hope that I believe will become reality is that the extra pairs of quick hands we're going to have this coming season is going to give us more steals, and when it does, that is going to result in more open shots as opponents have to scurry to try to minimize the damage. If we've got enough quicker players on the floor -- and I don't think it'll even be possible with this team to not have at least two on the court at one time -- they are going to do a better job than we did last year getting back on offense and defense.

I kinda wish I could see right now about 6 weeks into the future of this coming season. I'm pretty confident that by then we are all going to be really happy with how the team is coming along.

I also believe we will be much better inside and that alone will open up the outside shots will be “better” shorts resulting in a higher percentage of threes made. OSU offensive rebounding will also be better and we will get more second chance points. Add to this, the the outside defense should also be better which will give us more fast break points. I see a mush improved all around team this Fall.

Also, the offense and defense won't be limited by one particular players inability to move at an acceptable pace to play at the speed of the game that Coach Kim desires.....Sweet, sweet girl, but she was so slow on the court.

Adams' perspective is legitimate, IMO. All things considered -- first-year coach in only her second year as a D1 coach taking over a legendary program that had painfully slipped a bit, and installing a totally new system of play with all strange-to-her-players WHILE AT THE SAME TIME growing a human child inside her body and then, at THE most crucial part of the season naturally birthing that child and then somehow managing to only miss ONE game before returning to eventually lead our team to the Sweet 16.

Yeah. There were NO OTHER COACHES IN THE ENTIRE NATION who even came close to matching all she managed to accomplish last season. Nobody.

A phenomenal first season given the state of the team at the time. I would prefer to give her time to build a team but apparently she does not need that much time. I’m not willing to base my opinion on one year but am definitely encouraged with the system, recruiting and personnel type. This year will reveal a lot about building and sustaining a winning culture.

I'm with you, about last season and the upcoming. Very interested to see how (in detail) things progress.

In anticipation of last season, I wondered what things CKC would encounter that might be different from her Glenville State and Marshall experiences. Obviously the talent of the competition would be different. But the talent on her own roster would also be commensurate with that.

The two things I could think of that might prove different from her previous coaching experiences were:

1) Is the game at this level more physical in the ways games are called, and because of the relative size/height of the players, are coachable technique "leverage points" different? (I now wonder if this was part of "the grind" she has said the SEC turned out to be, and that she would have prepared differently for.)

2) Would she find her players at Tennessee to be "different" because of their years of AAU coaching and off-season basketball, in ways relevant to her normal communication style? --i.e., are top level college players a "different animal" from the undersized, game-motivated, amateur-minded (as opposed to future and career-oriented) players she was coaching before?

I wish we had a thread where I could pose such questions, where some sports journalist might see and ask them.

Nice article by Adams. Don't see complimentary articles by him very often. Have to say I have not been this excited for a LV's season in a long time. So much talent to work with. Looking forward to see how Kim and staff use it.
I wonder if Adams' oft cited reputation for "negativity" was actually a reflection of the UTAD rather than his personality?

I mean, is it really only coincidence that with so many good things happening in Vols sports, with leaders like Danny and Donde now in charge, that suddenly John Adams has purged his gloom and become a pleasant, old softy?

Maybe he was and still is just telling the truth.

Some good points but one positive article doesn't convince me he is a pleasant guy. He was not kind to Kim at her introduction meeting.

As far as telling the truth, interesting. If he was/is then agree you do need a guy like him to keep things in perspective. Guess we will see how his future writings go.

I always thought he was a bit of an ass, but he may have taken the roll of devil's advocate in all his articles.

It's debatable whether or not he was being "unkind." People assume Kim was being snarky in her reply to his question. And, with Adams being Adams, he fully embraced the idea that she was.

But yeah. This article is so unlike him. Wonder what he's up to; the coniving little witch.

Don’t get to caught up with Adams coming around. He is just posturing so he can cut her off at the knees her second loss.

Haha! I laughed, thinking that might be a quote from some old movie. So I looked it up...
